This text is a lecture in memory of Professor Stefan Riesenfeld of the Berkeley School of Law. Every year in his honour, the university hosts a symposium on international law. This time it was devoted to mass crimes of the 21st century and their documentation. The editor-in-chief of Ukrainska Pravda, Sevgil Musaieva, became this year
“This war became possible because evil went unpunished. Russia has not been held accountable for the crimes of the 20th century or the crimes of the early 21st century.
“When strangers are coming… They come to your house, They kill you all and say, We’re not guilty, not guilty.”
To prevent these words from being relevant in 10 or 80 years, Russia and the people who have committed crimes in Ukraine must be held accountable.”
Remember, kids, Ukrainians with their Jewish president are too white for their genocide or even existence to be acknowledged, but the blonde and blue-eyed team and family of this russian white supremacist is not too white to win an Oscar.
Just admit that you don't give a fuck about any of the racial issues you only mention to make yourself look progressive and good, and that you only care about the money, which, judging by this documentary's campaign, was spent a lot of. Stop covering your asses with genuinely important topics you don't give a shit about.
hey look, a fun recent collab between Yves Rocher and the moscow institute of cosmetology (translated by Ostap Ukrainets):
“Tables and templates with anthropometric ideals corresponding to the pure phenotype of a Russian woman will be placed in all outlets.
“The Russian Beauty project by Yves Rocher was the result of a lot of hard work. The corporation’s specialists collected and summarized thousands of historical and contemporary data on the appearance of famous Russian beauties, whose outstanding appearance was indisputable and whose Russian origin was documented. This approach made it possible to draw a clear parallel between the ethnic features of the beauty of Russian women and the most optimal use of cosmetics.
“Today, when patriotic sentiments in Russia are stronger than ever, Yves Rocher Corporation considers it its duty to pay attention to the uniqueness and exclusivity of pure Russian beauty. The best genes from generation to generation have created a unique image of a Russian beauty. And our duty is to preserve and increase it.
“The Russian phenotype is a reflection of the purity of Russian culture, a special and vivid example for those who have long lost their originality and exclusivity, wastefully mixing their genes with the genes of other peoples.
“Mothers, wives, daughters — those who have always been the guardians of the family hearth in Rus’, while men increase the glory of their native land — this is the basis of a special Russian civilization. Civilization of greatness, strength and unique beauty.”
I overslept a massive air raid. 81 missiles and 8 "Shahed" drones. They fired pretty much every type of missiles they have at the same time: Х-101/Х-555, Kalibr, Kinzhal, Х-31П, Х-59 and drones. They are still targeting our energy infrastructure, even though by now it should be painfully obvious to them that they are accomplishing nothing with these attacks. Nothing that would bring russia closer to victory.
They do this at night so that people don't know about the air raid and can't take cover. In Lviv oblast russian missiles hit residential buildings, at the moment it's known about 5 deaths.
In Kharkiv there is is no electricity, water or heating. The city and the region are under fire from the russians every day.
I want to mention once again that Ukraine spent this winter with a large percentage of our energy system destroyed by russian bombs and the largest nuclear power plant held hostage by russians - which, I remind, is still the case, russians still torture the personnel of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and still keep military equipment with explosives inside the nuclear plant, endangering most of Europe.
Through the winter, when power consumption is the highest because we need heating, Ukrainian energy infrastructure persisted under bombs, despite all destructions. Thanks to Ukrainian Armed Forces and energy specialists, we are meeting spring with power in our homes.
After I wrote this post last night, russians launched another missile attack, which lasted all night. They fired over 80 missiles at critical infrastructure and residential buildings. There are victims.
Due to the damage sustained by energy infrastructure, the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is disconnected from the grid. If external power supply is not restored to it within days (which is extremely difficult to do when the plant and its surrounding territory are, I repeat, under russian occupation), it will overheat, leading to a likely nuclear accident. See the linked post by Energoatom of Ukraine for more information.
Monday morning... that Monday morning feeling when you didn't really get enough sleep at night and feel a bit lost.
Only for me and loads of other Ukrainians, this feeling is caused by russians bombing us with iranian-made drones all night long.

This happened while p*tin was making his speech in which, among other crazy things, he once again called the occupied Kherson oblast of Ukraine russian territories and promised to "help and support" the people there. He said that Russia is not at war with the Ukrainians, but only saves them from the "Kyiv regime"
Right during the speech, the russians sent their help and support to the Kherson residents by shelling a bus stop, a pharmacy and nearby houses. As of now, 6 people are dead, 12 injured.
Since Kherson was liberated from the russian occupiers, russia has been shelling the city daily.
“The ordinary russians are against the war”
“The ordinary russians don’t know the truth”
Thing about war that I was never really told despite my country being of the middle of WW2 battles: you'll get used to it. You'll hear an explosion and still go walk with your dog or shop for groseries. You'll ignore most of alerts. You'll interact with people who escaped literal hell of ocvupation or their city being completely destroyed and you'll talk about weather.
But your mental state will be slipping. Day by day, week by week. Even if you have food, heat, and water, even if your loved ones are alive. Because it's hard. Waking up from your roomate having another night terror about dying from missles, living with knowledge you might die or be seriously hurt tomorrow, hearing and feeling vibration from explosions. Nobody is built for this.
February 1, 2023 Kramatorsk, Donetsk oblast
another russian missile hits a residential building, late evening, everybody was home
fucking russian terrorists, I hope you all die the most painful death imaginable
I knew so many people from Kramatorsk...
People are screaming under the rubble. russia does it again and again and again, fucking genocidal psychopaths.
Kramatorsk will probably become another ruined town, along with Mariupol, Bakhmut, Soledar, Severodonestk and half of the Donbas region that russia completely wiped off the face of the earth.
Vladimir Putin's genocidal invasion of Ukraine has exposed modern Russia's unapologetically imperial identity but could yet lead to the coll
Modern Russian national identity remains firmly rooted in notions of a sacred imperial mission that perceives Russia as being a unique civilization locked in an eternal struggle against various constructed foreign enemies. Hundreds of years ago, the messianic vision of the czars gave rise to the idea of Russia as the Third Rome and leader of Orthodox Christianity. In the twentieth century, this belief in imperial exceptionalism was harnessed to identify Russians as the nation that would save the world from capitalism and lead a global communist revolution.
The sense of imperial mission pervading modern Russian society has helped nurture values of sacrifice and obligation at the expense of individual human rights. Many Russians take it for granted that they are destined to rule over other nations and interpret their colonialism as fundamentally benevolent, even when it is obviously unwelcome. Russia’s victims must be liberated, whether they like it or not.

Another update on Dnipro attack. CW for disturbing video.
Rescue efforts are winding down in Dnipro as chances of finding anyone alive are almost none. A few still remain missing but may have been taken to hospital and just not identified yet.
This is footage taken shortly after the hit.
Death toll is now at 44, 5 are children.
Edit:
As I was writing this the death toll rose to 45. The newest death is a child. Bringing the total of children confirmed killed to 6.
79 injured. 16 are children.
15 remain unidentified. 20, including 4 children still missing.
5 children lost their parents and are orphaned.
These are the kids who died as a result of Russia's attack on a residential building in Dnipro.
This will probably be my last update on this attack.
About the missile:
The missiles used are X-22 cruise missile. Old Soviet era produced, and intended to attack large targets, primarily war ships, and so are not very precise.
Russia doesn't have too many of them but when used, they are extremely hard to intercept with any means Ukraine currently has. They basically have to have air defence right next to the target to have any chance. Only one such attack was shot down by Ukraine so far.
It was the same type used to attack the Mall in Kremenchuk where 20 people were killed and 80 wounded. Then on the Serhiivka resort in Odesa, killing 21 people and injuring 56.
Notice that none of these are military points on any front line.
So far Russia has used them almost entirely on civilian targets.
Missiles meant for strikes in wide open areas on large military and armoured targets are being used against civilian areas.
The Patriot systems Ukraine has been asking for have a higher potential to stop these. Ukraine has been asking for them for months. Finally it seems US is willing. But it will take weeks to get them and train locals to use them. Apparently the Dnipro attack was in response to US announcing the intent on delivering better air defense.
At least 81 people might still be alive if the world just gave Ukraine what they asked for sooner.
I try to be understanding about their fears and hesitations, I really do. But every attack that had a better chance of being survivable had Ukraine been given what it needed earlier and which are being given now, just makes my anger and resentment grow.
