One of the wildest things about this Heated Rivalry show is that, with it being based on fanfic (RPF specifically), the russian character in it is based on Alexander Ovechkin. Who is literally one of THE biggest Putin bootlickers even by russian standards. He is the founder of Putin Team - basically a Putin fanclub among russian celebrities (its English-language wikipedia page is very short, go figure, and doesn't mention this "team" still endorsing Putin for president in 2023 and still being very much active).

I can understand that on some level it's kind of funny to base a very gay character off of such a passionate fascist, but it's not like the show's target audience would think about it.

So as a result all it does is just whitewash russia, intentionally or not, among western audiences (with the only criticism of the country being that it's homophobic, no other problems about it).

And western audiences just eat it all up.

There is something to be said about how everything bad I have read about Israel, whether true or false, can be said about Russia, and when I realized that, the double standards in how both have been treated are infuriating.

Meanwhile, Russia literally has people paid to spread disinformation on the internet and interfere with elections. We saw this in Romania and Moldova recently, and we also saw this back in 2016 when Trump first got elected.

Protests supporting the Oct 7 massacre literally happened on the day of. Russia, on the other hand, was still able to continue participating in international events like Eurovision up until the full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Let's talk about Eurovision for a moment: While there were criticisms of the contest organizers for allowing Russia to participate in 2014, the Russian acts never faced the same vitriol Eden Golan and Yuval Raphael did. Don't even get me started on how Georgia was disqualified from the contest in 2009 for mocking Putin for invading the previous year. Crickets were the result of that.

Even after the invasions of Georgia and Ukraine in 2009 and 2014 respectively, there was no vote held to decide if Russia could continue to participate. They only got kicked out after 2022. And the same broadcasters that refused to actually do something about Russia in 2009 and 2014 are now demanding Israel be kicked out for "vote manipulation", or stuff that a lot of other countries are guilty of doing, like advertising for votes. Even when Russia won the public vote in 2016, there were no calls for investigation of the votes, yet Israel's votes are suspicious despite it being allowed within the contest's rules to be able to vote for a song up to 20 times on a single payment method.

Let's not even get into the countries that cheated and were never kicked out. Or the Dutch sending a contestant who had performed in Russia after February 2022 to the 2024 contest. Said contestant was later disqualified the day before the grand final and I am not the person who will bet, but I will bet $1000 right now that Ukraine was the one who got him disqualified. Especially because they were never on board with him participating when they learned that he had performed in Russia in July 2022. And yet the Dutch have no problem demanding Israel be kicked out when they waited way too long to do this for Russia.

So if you ever see anyone saying the contest organizers were swift about Russia in comparison to Israel, just know that is bullshit.

You'd have to squint very hard to see Israel on that one. And this isn't even getting into Russia's use of ethnic minorities like Chechnyans, Buryats, Kalmyks, Yakutians, and so forth as cannon fodder for their war against Ukraine. A country does not become that big naturally. There is always something shady involved in the process of getting that big.

For example:

I literally mentioned Crimean Tatars in my previous post. They are very much not white and not Christian. I guess unless you think Crimea isn't Ukraine, which something tells me is exactly what this anon would believe.

It's also an antisemitism issue and pointing that out isn't the same as me supporting Zionism (which is what another anon accused me of).

It's an imperialism issue as well (which isn't only bad when it's done by America and you should start to fucking listen to Eastern Europeans who have suffered under Russian/Soviet occupation for at least the least century, if you are about anti-imperialism).

It's also a food crisis issue if Russia decides to end the grain export deal, because guess what parts of the world depend the most on Ukrainian grain?!

Jesus, imagine thinking you're putting yourself on an anti-racist high horse by supporting Russia which uses their ethnic minorities as cannon fodder for Moscow's genocidal imperial dreams.

Info: today, on August 7 marks 14 years since Russia started war with Georgia

On August 7 of 2008, Russian tanks moved towards Georgian borders. As a preemptive act, on August 8, then Georgian president Saakashvili opened fire to block Roki tunnel, the main way through which Russians were able to cross the border. Since then, Russia has claimed that war started on August 8 and not 7 which discredits Georgia's right to defend itself.

On August 9 of 2008, Russia bombed one of the biggest Georgian cities - Gori, devastating the area and killing innocent civilians (the photos are from Gori)

Russia took some Georgian villages during that war, which are still occupied to this day.
