ok so, I approached my local library with a proposal to donate a mural as a way to A: build portfolio/gain practical experience and B: give back to a beloved public institution. The director was very enthusiastic about it and i've been working on it since the beginning of March. Come with me as I endeavor to paint what is in all honesty an excessive amount of birds

I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study

after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines

et voila

and that was a whole week on it's own so next comes the paintin' >:)

i can’t believe it took me this long to figure this out

despite the fact that i took four years of french

and literally spent a whole day IN the louvre

i always thought that the name louvre was weird

especially as a name for napoleon’s castle in the city

like, wondering is ‘louvre somebody’s name?’

i srsly can’t believe it took me this long to figure out

the louvre actually literally means “the work”

the louvre = the l’ouvre (!!!!!)

literally = “the work”

as in ‘work of art’

l’ouvre definition = the life’s work of an artist

i.e. da vinci’s ouvre = the totality of da vinci’s works

or in the case of encyclopedic museums such as the louvre or the metropolitan museum, they represent the totality of the works of the entire history of art

for napoleon, his collection of the great works produced in the entire history of art (winged victory anyone?)

fun facts:

the winged victory’s original greek name is athena nike

(pronounced knee + kay)

and the company nike is literally named after this very sculpture

Stellarium Dress

My original plan was to paint a planetarium dress with the Solar System as the main focus, but I got so carried away with making the dress go woooosh that the composition no longer works for a Solar System lol. I'm still happy with how this one turned out, and I still get to paint the actual planetarium dress later ahahaha The full hours long video recording, HD image, and PSD file will be DMed on my Patreon on March 3rd
