REFLECTION:
Coming into this semester my goals were to discover different design processes and methods, and to develop my own style. I definitely think I achieved this and I learnt how to design quickly and more efficiently. This semester I did the most group work than I have ever done before as I usually create on my own so it was interesting and challenging to work alongside others and to put all our ideas together to achieve one final goal. I felt like I did more thorough and exact research as before I would either not do any research at all or spend forever creating a workbook, whereas I now have learnt how to do so precisely and efficiently. Another skill we developed was zine-making which I felt was super popular amongst the students. It was an area I had never worked in before and although I am not overwhelmingly great at it or particularly have my own style yet, it was fun to explore a new design field. The discussion that inspired me the most in the lectures was the topic of design-ethics and being aware of who and why you are designing. The work by Colors Magazine was a big focus because although they were still drawing attention to important social topics and trying to break out of mainstream design, it was all still for advertising.
