To say it was a slow day at Lonestar was an understatement. With the exception of a tire change that sheâd carried out before noon, Lilly had spent most of the day split between tidying up the shop, and looking online for parts for her own side projects. While her tools really did need reorganizing, there was only so much cleaning she could take before she got too mind numbingly bored to continue. Ask her to concentrate on a car for multiple hours in a row and Lilly could do it with ease, but trying to get her to focus on anything else involving manual labour for more than five minutes was like pulling teeth.
Walking out from the backroom to once again see if anyone needed her help with anything, Lilly was pleasantly surprised to find Sarah and her 2000 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe there, and even thought it looked like Dallas was already looking over the car and seeing to whatever was wrong with it, Lilly ran across the room and stopped just short of the other fox. âOh thank god youâre here. I mean - Iâm sorry thereâs something wrong with your car, but Iâm dying here and I am so happy to see you right now. No offence, boss man,â she rambled, adding the last part just in case Dallas could hear her.

London bridge by Fergie has been stuck in my had for over 36 hours. I would like to sue Fergie, as well as everyone who had a hand in making that song. Itâs unfair that I, a innocent bystander, should have to hum along to the song with every waking moment. My dreams even scream Fergie. I mean, not that thatâs a bad thing, but please, Fergie, let me have peace.Â
And now itâs stuck in my head too. Iâd swear at you if I wasnât already 90% sure thereâll be a new song in its place within the next couple of hours. I gotta give you credit though, Iâd have probably broken down after the 12th hour.
I would like to thank the old pudding in my fridge for putting me into a food poisoning coma.Â
Shit, Iâve been there before. You all better now? And okay, but how old are we talking? Like a week old or a month old?
âWhatâs your solution on how to get me to stop?â Cash asked, lifting her eyes to Aliceâs face. She pushed her feet into the dirt gently to get the swing to sway. She couldnât help the smirk that twisted onto her face. âIâve thought of a few of them myself. We could try lobotomy? Iâm sure thereâs a railroad spike somewhere where you can drive it into my frontal lobe. I suppose I could get myself hurt so I can focus on something else, so you feel like hitting me with my own bat?â She produced a joint from her pocket. âUsually when I start thinking too hard, I turn to my good friend Mary Jane but while it might stop the thinking, it could fuck up my lungs but yâknow, weâre young and dumb and I donât see myself living to my fifties so why not, right?â
Alice raised her eyebrows and pretended to mull over all the things Cash had said before responding,âWish I had an answer but after knowinâ you for like 8 years, I donât think you know how to. At least not for very long.â Following Cashâs lead, Alice too used her feet to provide herself and the swing with enough momentum to move back and forth ever so slightly. âIf Iâd known Iâd be out here hanginâ with dark and twisty Chuck, Iâda brought bourbon. And as temptinâ as both those options sound, Iâmma pass. If ya ever do anythinâ to deserve it, though, Iâll be the first to take a swing at ya.â Her fingers curled around the chains of the swing and her grip only tightened when she saw the joint in Cashâs hand. âYou could always get on the vape train but who even knows what thatâll fuckinâ do long term. But more importantly, are ya gonna share that thing, or am I just meant to watch? Spoiler alert, the latter is way less fun for the both of us.â

The question had been rhetorical, so when it was unexpectedly answered, Kat jumped slightly and nearly dropped the bizarre fruit. Okay. Maybe some of Skylarâs paranoia had rubbed off on her. âLilly, you scared me,â she said, putting the fruit back in the basket and brushing off her hands.Â
Guilt flooded her stomach, making her shift her weight awkwardly. She looked good. The last time Katrina had seen her sheâd been sick, clearly that wasnât the case anymore. But, then again, she knew that would happen. The ignition had saved her life and Katrina was a horrible person for being jealous and resentful. Were it not for the fox that had caught in Lilly, she might have died already, but Kat? She wasnât in any more danger than anyone else in Fairburn. Her reasons for wanting to become a fox hadnât been as pure or need based, she was just tired of feeling alone and like she didnât belong.Â
Maybe that was why it didnât work.Â
âI, uh, think youâre right. Alien. Might even be an egg. Best not to bring it home,â she agreed. âHow are you?â
âSorry. Ninja skills.â At some point during the 10 second walk to where Katrina was stood, Alice had gotten it into her mind that surprising her would make things less awkward by avoiding the whole âOh shit, did she see me? Do I say hello or do I keep walking?â moment that tended to happen when two people had lost touch with each other. Of course, scaring Katrina instead probably hadnât made things any less awkward.Â
âBut what if theyâre cute aliens? Like Mogwai?â Alice distractedly mumbled, eyes tracing the edges of the fruit as she let her mind wander for just a moment. âBuuuut knowing my luck if it hatched into something weâre probably looking at full on Xenomorph.â Clearly she was nervous. The rambling and rapid fire of movie references or random facts usually set in when she wasnât sure what to say but felt the need to fill the silence. âI uh- Iâm good. Work keeps me busy but you know me. Workâs not really much of a chore,â Alice smiled attempting to keep the conversation as light as possible. âYou?â she asked, squatting down and reaching out to pet the dog next to Kat before hesitating and looking up at her friend for permission. âCan I?â

It had been a long week on her road to recovery and slowly but surely things were healing but still not as fast as she liked. Not to mention that the broken bone would take longer than everything else and the mental scars would last longer than anything else. When a knock on her front door happened, Melanie jumped on the couch, not expecting anyone else to show up. Her eyes landed on where she kept one of her weapons before she heard someone familiar. Alice.Â
Letting out a deep breath, Melanie got up from the couch, wincing as her whole body ached. Maybe she needed some more medication. Once she opened the door, she put on a bright and fake smile for the younger girl, giving a small wave with her casted hand. âHi there, Lilypad. Whatâs myâŠ..â She trailed off once she looked past the other woman, eyes finding her car. âYou⊠You brought back my car.â Melanie said in shock before looking at Alice.
It was her first time seeing Reckon since sheâd returned from her time with the Vixens. Nobody had really stopped to fill her in on the details but they didnât have to. It was obvious what had happened to her and honestly Alice wasnât sure what to expect when she saw her but Revelâs words rang through her mind. âBetter for her to see us than to hide. Gotta remind her we ain't scared of her or gon hurt her.â Alice was obviously there to drop off Reckonâs car, but more than that, she was there to see how her friend was and remind her that she was there for her in any capacity that Reckon wanted her to be there in.Â
Still, nothing prepared her for the sight that greeted her eyes once the door finally opened. For a moment, Alice was unable to think of anything to say, a first for her and something they probably wouldâve joked about if the situation wasnât as serious as it was. Reckonâs usually flawless skin was covered with bruises and cuts, but it  was the cast on her right wrist and the bandages covering a couple of her fingers, that worried Alice most of all. Worried so much that she didnât even remember to jokingly give Reckon shit over using the nickname that Alice liked to pretend she hated. âUhh shit yeah...â It was probably lucky for her that she did have Reckonâs car to fall back on and prevent her from saying anything too stupid. âIâm sorry I kept her so long. She had a couple oâ scratches and I wanted to get her all perfect before I brought her back. I know how spotless you like to keep her.â

Revel: Ain't ever too busy for you, kid.
Revel: Keep that in mind.
Alice: I'll try and keep that in mind.
Iâm asking this question for⊠innocence. Can y'all deep throat a banana without gagging? Like I said, innocence.
I donât know about deep throating but I can fit a whole banana in my mouth. And a muffin too. And not one of those weak ass muffins. Iâm talking perfect full size muffins, like the ones you get at Archive. Does that count?
i should change my relationship status to: damaged and sexually frustrated
Seems like thereâs a lot of that going on around here. At least youâre not alone in that sense, although I guess thatâs probably not much of a comfort.Â

âOne of your new favorite people? Score.â Amelia accelerated fast under Lillyâs guidance, and now Alex was starting to feel itâthe giddy, energizing fear that came with doing something dangerous (and very illegal; sorry Taylor). He wasnât rationally worried. He had offered, she accepted, she had the keys but he was the only person liable for any damage or harm to come to the three of them, she definitely knew what she was doing and he had been totally right to not only trust her with it but to give her the chance because the fierce pride in her eyes was obvious and kind ofâadorable the way a kitten learning to walk is adorable? Infectious?
He had not been right in hoping somehow the speed they were going would make everything catch up to his brain, but thatâd been a long shot anyway. Oh well. Not at all shy about his exhilarating anxiety, he laughed at her question. âNot a chance in hell. Aside from being me and all the risk that comes from that alone, Iâd rather keep her intact that have fun on my own.â He gasped at the turn, muttering Christ and then chuckling. âYou seem to know what youâre doing, though, so if anyone is going to take her out for her proper exercise, why not? A good scare is healthy once in a while.â
A sideways glance at Alex was all Alice needed to know that she was succeeding in what sheâd set out to do, which was give Alex the ride of his life. Frowning, she made a note to never say that out loud, because even in her head that sounded dirty. He looked like he was enjoying it for the most part, but there was also that slight look of fear sheâd hoped to induce from the very first second after sheâd accepted his offer. The kind of look where it was obvious that he was completely out of his element and not in control of the situation.Â
His reply only further contributed to increasing the smugness bubbling up inside of her. âWell at least youâre able to admit it." Which was more than she could say about most of the guys whoâd been out for a drive with her, or even just the ones who knew that cars were her thing. âI started drivinâ real early and never really stopped. Engines have just always been my thing and now I build, fix and race cars. And I know Iâm totally tootinâ my own horn here, but youâd be hard pressed to find anyone who can do all three as well as me.â Â
There was no doubt in Aliceâs mind that she could get Alexâs R8 to drift, but whether she should was a completely different question. A question she regularly asked herself about most of the things she did in her life. As fun and responsive as Amelia was to drive, she wasnât Donatello. She wasnât custom built for singular purpose of racing and being able to drift around corners. Still, as she reached her favourite corner, Alice decided a small power slide wouldnât hurt and she did just that. Accelerating into it, with just the right amount of steering to effortlessly clear it, Alice took her foot off the pedal long enough to ensure they didnât spin out of control, and then slammed it down again. âYou still alive over there?â

Farmers Market | Open
Katrina tied her hair up in a messy ponytail and clipped the leash on to her puppyâs collar; the farmers market seemed like the perfect opportunity to take Rey out and get some sun. She wasnât a picky eater and she definitely wasnât a cook, but fresh fruit was something she enjoyed when she had the chance. Besides, sheâd been cooped up in the apartment for long enough trying to obey Skylarâs oppressive safety restrictions. But Melanie was home now, it might not be one hundred percent over, but she couldnât live her life hiding in her apartment. So, she strolled the stalls, filling her basket with berries and apples and anything else that caught her eye, Rey trotting along beside her.Â
Stopping at the next vendor, she picked up a strange, spiky orange fruit and frowned at it. âWhat is this?â
It was a safe bet that wherever there was food to be found, Alice was sure to be close by. Farmerâs markets were no different, regardless of the fact that she had to pay for said food. Just walking past the stalls, looking at all the various things for sale was fun in itself. Of course the occasional free sample also didnât hurt and she could see a bunch of those everywhere.Â
But what Alice hadnât been expecting to see was Kat out and about with her dog. The two of them hadnât really spoken since the ignition and every time Alice picked up her phone to change that, sheâd felt too guilty to go through with it. In her mind if Kat wanted to talk to  her, she wouldâve called by now. The problem was though, that it had been around two months and still nothing. And Alice really missed her friend. Maybe this was a sign. She could put herself out there and if Kat still wasnât ready to talk to her, it would be easy enough for her to leave without making things too awkward.Â
With that in mind, Alice made her way over to her just in time to catch her asking about one of the many types of fresh fruit for sale. âAlien. Clearly not of this world.âÂ
There was an odd heaviness in Cashâs chest as she gripped the chains of the swing she was sitting on, the warm night barely noticeable. She hadnât gone home even though she knew she should have, instead choosing to escape to a park. She rested her head against the chain, feet pushing against the ground to make the swing sway. Her stomach ached with hunger but it was an oddly satisfying ache, one that her mother had praised when she was younger. The bare though of her mother had a bitter smile twisting on Cashâs face.
The sun was already setting by the time Alice pulled her skateboard from the trunk of her car, but that didnât stop her from taking her time skating through the park. She had no particular destination in mind, but soon found herself subconsciously heading towards the playground where she spotted a familiar mop of messy blonde hair sitting on the swings. Grinding to a halt just before the patch of grass that led up to them, Alice picked up her board and made her way over on foot. âYou know, if you keep thinking so hard, youâll get wrinkles,â she quipped with a grin splashed across her face,  hesitating only briefly to drop her skateboard onto the ground again, before occupying the swing next to Cash.

The engine of Reckonâs â68 Fastback Mustang practically purred as Alice drove it up to the house her friend shared with Cash, Honey and Siren. She hadnât been sure when the best time to drop it off was, so sheâd waited until the weekend and had spent her day off, washing and cleaning Karli up, before performing a full service on the car. The car itself hadnât been particularly messy to begin with but Alice knew how immaculate it normally was, and wanted to make sure it returned as such, despite the number of days it had spent in various parking lots without Reckon there to clean it.Â
Sliding the car into park, Alice jumped out with her backpack in tow, and ran up to knock on the front door, hoping Mel wouldnât mind the unplanned visit too much or if she did, the excitement of having her car back would be enough to distract her from Alice just showing up at the house without calling. At least thatâs how Alice imagined sheâd feel if she was ever separated from Donatello for more than a couple of days. âYo Mel, itâs Lily. I come bearing gifts.â
