So much fun reuniting with the wonderful David Linford and Kym Hurst (hair and makeup) for a bridal shoot the other week. This was the first team I ever worked with on a 121, and as this was also my first time meeting up with someone I’d worked with before it was so much fun seeing how far I’ve come since the early days (only a couple of months ago!) and having an effortless shoot with a group I already had a great relationship with. The location wasn’t bad either!

One of the things that really gets me excited about location shoots is how you can use the textures in the backdrop to add interest to an image. Me and John Denton have been cooped up in the studio all winter and dying to get out and have a play, so the rustic farm location of the studio at Detheo Photography was heaven!
In January me and John Denton put on an amazing location shoot at The Societies Convention 2016 in London on a fantastic, bright red light ship moored to the Thames. The main thing I remember about taking these photos was how absolutely frozen I was (the water was partially ice at this time of year) but it was well worth it for the range of great shots we got. We’ve been holding back on posting as a lot of images from this shoot were featured in the Professional Imagemaker’s February edition (exciting stuff: my first ever published article!!), but with that now being released it’s time to start sharing!
Here are a few of the bridals we did on the deck of the ship, my first experience of wedding photography and not exactly classical but I love the different ways we played around with capturing the urban look.
Funny how sometimes a photo comes along that totally changes how you feel about yourself. I’ve had no shortage of confidence issues in my life, and even now in an industry where people like to shower you with compliments, but sometimes in low moments I like to look at this photo and remind myself I’m not so bad really.
Moral of the story: don’t feel bad for finding a photo of yourself that you love and for plastering it all over your walls if it makes you feel good peeps!

Photos taken from one of my favourite shoots ever on my last 121 with John Denton at the studio. This was exactly the sort of shoot I had been dying to do from the moment I started modelling and now that winter is finally starting to fade away, it’s so great to be able to get out and about to play, my imagination really comes alive when I’ve got a fantastic setting to play with.

Love how this simple, classic look is so effective yet so easy to obtain in whatever setting you’re confined to if you can get the lighting right. Great fun watching John Denton at work, feel like I’m learning so much about photography from sheer osmosis!

After weeks of being stuck inside in the studio in the cold winter months, John and I finally braved the storm last month and captured this Wuthering Heights style shoot. Absolutely freezing and almost impossible to hold onto the equipment in the gales, but managed to catch this magical shot within a couple of minutes. Who says you need good weather to get good photos when you have a great partnership between model and photographer!
Some of my favourite pictures ever taken of me and it was no more than half an hour into my first ever shoot with John Denton. Great partnerships yield great results! These were taken in natural light on a stack of hay bales on the farm at the studio, nothing like an audience of judgmental cows to inspire photographic greatness!
Eight days ago I traveled to Yorkshire for what I don’t doubt will be one of the most significant in my career; to finally meet the man I had been talking to for weeks, the man who approached me asking whether I would be interested in exploring the world of modelling. That man is the effortlessly, spendiforously talented photographer and trainer John Denton, whose work I would greatly recommend you view more of here.
Within that time, John and I have shot together twice and attended at the biggest annual photography event in Europe, The Societies’ Photographic Convention and Trade Show, delivering three talks and taking a team of photographers on a very exciting location shoot on an old steam boat (during which the second image was taken). Although I have had the fortunate opportunity to work with and absorb the wisdom of a variety of different photographers at this event, it is John I want to pay tribute to here. We were fast friends from the get go, clicking on an artistic and personal level, and in a true testament to the crazy, intense nature of this industry, the time we’ve spend planning, shooting, teaching and unwinding together during this week alone has made us into a formidable partnership of creativity that will be blowing up a storm throughout the country and worldwide in the coming months.
You could be the best, most experienced model in the world (which I do not claim to be), but you will never meet your true potential unless you find yourself a great photographer who gets who you are, how you work and think, and who you can just muck around with, coming up with crazy ideas without fear of failure, and having a great time doing it! Doesn’t hurt if they’re brilliantly talented at what they do, either!
I’m saying all this to mark the beginning of the partnership that will shape this blog and my growing portfolio, I already have loads to post from the beginning of our journey together, and there’s so much more to come!

One of the interesting things about doing a shoot with one or more photographer is seeing the differences in style. Where Clive’s images are soft and classic, John Whitmore’s edits came back striking. Both are equally stunning in my opinion, these images look fantastic with the colour of my hair!

Starting Out
Hello and welcome to my official blog!
In November 2015, after one of the most tumultuous, challenging years of my life, I received a message asking me if I would be at all interested in posing for some photos. Seemingly innocuous, it was only on a whim that I chose not to ignore it and focus on the 9-5 job I was in the process of applying for.
With next to no experience and nothing to recommend me for the job, the events of the next few weeks would see me go from zero to a full throttle, straight-in-the-deep-end crash course in the industry, bringing with it opportunities to talk to and work with some of the countries best professional photographers, to travel within England and internationally before the year is out, and to bag a place modelling fashion to bridal to art nude at Europe’s largest annual photography convention in just a few weeks!
With all these exhilaratingly terrifying changes to my life coming in an unstoppable wave, I decided to make a blog to do three things:
To document my journey and experiences within the industry starting from the very beginning, now.
To share my portfolio of work as it grows.
And lastly, to promote myself to photographers that may be interested in working with me. If this applies to you, please find my contact details in my navigation bar.
