How can I put this to words.

Anyone else notice how paganism and satanism (smooched together a lot) is used as some lazy tool in media to label “evilness?” Like if it’s not part of a *good* abrahamic religion (Islam is shat on, and who even cares about the other half of the big six), then it must be “glorifying Satan.” It’s used to say, “do you see that? It’s not Christian, so it’s evil! It’s a mark of impurity on their moral characters! It’s Wrong and it needs to be Righted!” It very much centers Christiandom and anything other is defaultingly Wrong (I either can’t tell the difference between that and Judaism, or Judaism is less represented.)

Which I feel is a bit ironic because many cults especially ones that got really big/are still around at least had basis in Christianity. Even the New Age stuff is rooted in white supremacy and colonization/appropriation.

And all this even though paganism is very much still a thing, and doesn’t make someone evil or what have you, it’s a take over from Christian colonization and part of their prostelatizing bs. Also, actual “Satanism” is more a banner to say “I reject Christianity bullshit” (one of those churches has its own problems fyi), instead of actually taking Satan or Lucifer, from the Bible, and worshiping him as a god/The God (satanists have Baphomet for fucks sake).

This of course isn’t exhaustive; I haven’t all movies known to man, and it’s off memory. But it’s a real pattern I’ve noticed (not even just those religious movies) and it’s irritating.
