i wanna take a minute to appreciate osomatsu as a character here because he’s really interesting to me. it seems pretty clear that he views himself as a failure. he wastes all his time gambling and watching porn and being lazy because he just doesn’t want to face his inadequacies. in the episode where they were dealing with choro’s “self-awareness”, it was revealed that he had the least self-confidence out of all his brothers, and even though he’s supposed to be the “big brother”, he pretty much only uses this status as an excuse to tease and bully the others, showing he has a bit of an inferiority complex.

in fact, it’s obvious he depends on them more than they ever depended on him. one of the earlier episodes had him trying to find a brother to hang out with, but finding that they all had something better to do on their own, which ended up with him feeling hurt and angry. maybe growing up as the leader of the group made that superior status part of his identity, and as his brothers got older and more autonomous, that leader position slipped away from oso, and he lost his primary source of self worth. and maybe that’s part of why he fears them leaving him behind, or finding a way up in life before he does.

he may be a loser but as long as he has them he’s still technically leader of some other losers, but as they find some success and leave him behind he no longer has even that. so he lashes out, he gets jealous and afraid and angry. but he does know where to stop- in ep24 i think the reason he didn’t say goodbye to any of the others was because he knew he was angry, and he knew he was being unfair and selfish and he should be happy for them, but he was angry anyway and he didn’t want to risk taking it out on them.
