Clear back in January of 2013, Vodka featured CosmoSoul’s Sunny Days from the band’s 2011 long-player Sunrise. Fast forward to last years brilliant long-player, Walk, which featured On The Road (seen / heard here) and then drink it in! Still front and center vocally, Alana Sinkëy delivers powerful soul vocals and they are as awesome as ever, but listen to the music! While the quieter moments may tend to traditional soul feel, the fuzzed out guitars in the more raucous sections owe more to rock than soul. It is a great blending of styles and a fearless delivery. There are textures everywhere here and I challenge you to get them all in one listen!
Personnel for CosmoSoul include Alana Sinkëy, vocals, Manuel Sanz, bass, Sergio Salvi, keyboards, Abel Calzetta, guitar and Arturo Garcia, drums. These people all come from diverse musical backgrounds which make the band’s sound so unique.
You can find more information on CosmoSoul by heading up to their web site, which has a few problems and some great features. First the cool stuff: You can listen to all three of the band’s long-players in their entirety; There is a nice concise bio for the band as well as mini-bios associated with each long-player; All of the social links are readily available. Now for the problem: There appears to be no store link and a search from the usual suspects return inconsistent results. You can pick up two of the three long-players on the band’s bandcamp.com site, digitally, but not Walk. There is no one-stop, er, shop, that I can find where you can purchase all of the band’s music in the format you like. You can get all of the digital tracks from Amazon if that is the way you want to go.
All in all though, I encourage you to find the band’s music and purchase it. It is by far some of the most interesting soul music I know.
