Larisa Iordache’s All-Around final day
After the difficult day when Romania didn’t manage to qualify to the Olympics, Larisa’s face was wet with tears. She felt guilty for the unusually low scores she got and she seemed like she had forgotten she managed to qualify for the All-Around Final.
“I couldn’t sleep much the night before the final. But when I woke up in the morning, I decided that day I would be calm and thankful for what I have and for the things I can do,” Larisa said.
The day was tough. She only ate a banana and two slices of cheese. And she listened to Eminem’s “Not Afraid” on repeat.
“Right before the competition I felt like there were people who were supporting us unconditionally, whether we won medals or not. I received a lot of messages on whatsupp, facebook, instagram, everywhere. The majority of them were messages of encouragement. I did find some unpleasant ones, but I ignored them.”
Larisa managed to concentrate and get on the Worlds All-Around podium with a bronze medal.
Asked about what would her dream podium look like, she just said “I only have one wish: I want to stay healthy. Me and my loved ones. That’s all.”
“I would also like to tell the girls to be thankful for what they have and to fight for the things they want to achieve. I would also like to thank my coaches for always believing in me.”
At the end of the interview, she was asked to imagine the day before the Olympic All-Around final. How much sleep does she think she’s gonna get?
“It’s difficult to say now. Probably not a lot of sleep. :P”
