Fandom Problem #14,966:
At some point fanon becomes common knowledge and as someone who engaged almost exclusively though canon material, shit gets confusing when I try to engage with fandom and they're saying that X character did Y or has Z identity. Like where in the fuck did it say that??
Remember, the best way to engage with fanon is to ignore it.
pray for those who are losing their way with God. may the Holy Spirit guide them back home and make them new
Honestly, I think if you respect their decision to leave, they're more likely to come back on their own terms. Teying to force them back will only make them entrench.
Fandom Problem #14,334:
WOTC: We got rid of orcs because they're racist
Most Orcs in DND: Aren't based on any real world culture at all, don't physically resemble any real world ethnicity, and are meant to be a stand-in for colonizers.
No, really, they literally worship a pantheon that wants them to take over the world and enslave other races. They're also extremely important to DnD lore.
Worst part? There are multiple ways they could have handled making not all orcs evil better. There was a tribe of orcs who are peaceful farmers in 2e that WOTC could have just made canon again or expanded on, instead of getting rid of the entire race. They also could have pulled a Drizzt Do'Urden and had an orc who saw what their society was doing was wrong and broke away on their own accord.
Except they didn't get rid of orcs. In fact, 5.5e made full Orcs a core playable race (or whatever the new term is) in the PHB.
Fandom Problem #14,652:
I'm legit considering turning all my WIP fanfics into original stories and placing them behind a paywall. If I'm going to have an anti harass me and accuse me of whatever is trendy at the time, they can do so after paying. I don't care anymore.
You mean actually publishing them?
Fandom Problem #14,561:
harassers/mental abusers in fandoms, acting like victims because of anything, will never not be disgusting
You have to learn to no-sell that kind of emotional manipulation.
Fandom Problem #14,500:
The way some Wikis will act like the films and books are part of the same canon when they clearly aren't.
Examples? Because most wikis I've seen divide them by continuity pretty well.
I think it's really funny how the practice of bleeping out profanity is not only completely ineffective as a censorship tool, it's had the opposite effect of creating an environment where it's ridiculously easy to edit apparent profanity into footage that doesn't actually contain it. Like you can just grab any audio or video clip and bleep out anything and people will automatically mentally insert profanity in there it fucking rules.
my favorite example of this is the count's song from sesame street where they censor the word "count"
This is the greatest thing humanity has produced
On Star Trek Lower Decks, uncensored profanity was allowed, but they felt bleeps would be funnier and put them in.
I wasn't happy about it, but I couldn't help laughing at the people who though you could just get the headphone port back by drilling a hole in your phone.

This blog has a lot of negativity towards antis and none towards proshippers. But maybe we will admit that proshippers are not angels either, and that if a person behaves as if he is 6 years old, does not know how to write, loves incest and pedophilia for being incest and pedophilia and build their blog exclusively around this topic, is it abnormal and these people are mentally ill?
I know what I'm talking about, my fandom has about seven proshippers who interact with non-fandom people, and ALL of them act like that
People who consider themselves proship oppose censorship and harassment in fandom. What you're describing is something else.
Boris "professional idiot" Johnson wanted to build an island airport in the immediate area.
it's fucking visible

Hey what the fuck
You weren't kidding they've been trying to get the masts off for 5 years and keep getting foiled because there's probably bombs leaking out of her
Fun fact: Doxing myself but I live in the blast zone if that thing ever goes up! It's even immortalised in a local artwork:
@tatzelwyrm
Unfortunately, Gordon Lightfood never did a song about it.
"queer-owned business" means nothing anymore. OpenAI and Palantir are both queer-owned businesses.
if this is how you find out that both sam altman and peter thiel are gay im sorry
I'm going to address a specific set of notes in this post (without indicating who wrote them) because it's a valuable insight into criticisms of this post. Also keep in mind broadly that this post is a JOKE it's supposed to be FUNNY. But also I'm not stupid enough to think jokes aren't a very effective way to communicate and persuade.
"This is like saying female-owned businesses mean nothing because J.K Rowling is a businesswoman". Incredibly, that's exactly what I'm saying. I applaud this critique for correctly identifying how my stance might be applied elsewhere.
But what I would ask is this: do you not remember how JKR (being a successful female author and businesswoman) was lauded as a feminist hero during the peak of the books' success which allowed her to make a large part of modern feminism incredibly TERF-y because of her influence? Because I think we should all do well to remember that.
Interestingly, this critique then goes on to make my entire point for me, albeit maybe slightly more charitably than I. It goes on to say "queer people are not a monolith" and that we should inform ourselves as to who owns these businesses. Yes! Yes! This is my point! Relying purely on identity politics to judge whether businesses (and people) are good or not is bad!
It closes out by saying big corps "don't count" when talking about queer-owned businesses. Honestly? Yeah, I agree. Most of the time, people are talking about small queer-owned businesses. That is because this post is a joke. I have applied the label of "queer-owned business" to some businesses the label is not usually applied to to point out the limits of identity politics in business.
Corporations are not your friends. Small businesses can be your friends, and they are closer to your level than Big Corporations - but that doesn't mean they always will be.
did peter thiel every actually, personally, come out? he very famously destroyed gawker for acknowledging he was gay
I would assume so since he has a husband.
Be honest: were you ever a "SuperWhoLock" fan?
Yes, I was
I was a fan of all three shows, but NOT SuperWhoLock as a collective thing
I was a Doctor Who and Sherlock fan, but not a Supernatural fan

I never got into Supernatural, and Elementary was the better Sherlock Holmes show.

Why do so many websites with pirated cartoons have porn ads?
If I want porn, I'll look up porn. Right now I'm trying to watch KND.
