Xo Kitty did something even worse than queerbaiting because it made their protagonist a queer girl and then did nothing with it. She doesn't even get to have one sapphic relationship that works for at least a little while before setting her up with the second boy she meets.

And oh, the other sapphic relationship that was indeed working and could've been further developed gets ruined just to buy the show time before putting the girl and boy together. And they have a THIRD chance to make up for it with Juliana and Praveena, but we literally learn about their relationship on a scene that lasts seconds. Because what's use a black and a South Asian girl have to this show if they're something beyond an obstacle, right?

And don't even get me started on how they fumbled Juliana who fucking had to move because her relationship with a girl was exposed and they never properly acknowledge how traumatic that must've been to her. But they can't be accused of queerphobia or heteronormativity because they said Kitty was bi out loud and she kissed Yuri for two seconds before Min Ho interrupted them. AND WHY WOULD THEY USE A CHAPPELL ROAN SONG OF ALL PEOPLE FOR THEM? They could've picked literally anything else. What a slap on the face.

I didn't think I could be this hurt by a teen show, but ouch. Just a freaking reminder that we can't have anything I guess. And it's even worse seeing how many people are okay with these choices and don't see the problematic they are. I'm okay with Kitty ending up with anyone or single, really, but not by running over sapphic relationships, black and brown characters. And, shit, they couldn't even do something interesting with Yuri's family arc either, which would've been the bare minimum and had a lot of potential.

The good thing is that if the show gets renewed, they'll probably stall Kitty and Min Ho getting together, throw in a bunch of boys and girls to be temporary obstacles and only make them endgame last minute, when it won't even be worth it anymore. And the show might even get canceled before they can get there.

Immediately after the epilogue scene mike and the rest of the party are upstairs around the wheelers table for the last time.

Will tells the group he was accepted into Chicago's art program.

The party are excited and congratulate him.

Except Mike who is scared that this is the start to his monologue where Will eventually falls in love with someone who isn't him.

He realized he was in love with will a LONG time ago but he didnt think he'd be able to do anything about, even now that Will has come out.

Mike sees all his friends talk about colleges and the future and he will still be stuck in Hawkins, doing nothing but hide himself away.

Will notices Mikes quietness. (Hes quiet today / Hes always quiet)

After dinner Will calls Mike down to the basement with him bc he 'forgot something'

Once they were both in the basement Will told Mike that he could see Mike growing distant, and he was scared that he was becoming emotionally checked out like Ted.

Will told him that Chicago had a great writing program. He asks Mike to go with him.

Mike takes some time and thinks about what his future would look like if he didn't.

He says yes. (You said yes .. you said yes and it was the best thing I'd ever done)

They are interrupted by one Max Mayfield (Basmentgate WSQK radio CANON)

Mike doesn't want to become like his dad, he wants to accept himself. He wants to reject conformity.

And so he does, with Will. Byler happens sometime at college and the party finds out during a monthly meeting. They're all overjoyed.

Mike gets to escape his epilogue future and start a new path.
