INTRODUCTION POST

Hello!!! This is @scorpiothearachnid's (my) account for everything related to my story Strings of Fate.

What is SoF about? Well, I am somewhat struggling with that, but it's about love and loss, and battling fate and choosing your own destiny, as opposed to prophecies.

The story revolves around Fray and Cross, and their lives, and a bunch of other things. No, seriously I am still not decided on everything.

I remember when you talked about the soul mate bond stuff, I wanted to ask can it happen between two different races or is it strictly limited to someone of the same race as yours???

it can happen between any race. additionally, you can only bond with one person ever.

Idk if you ever posted smth like this, but could you make a character sheet if possible? ik ik very needy ask. Since character sheets are hard to make (from Experience [also no pressure to make one])

Now for the question

How are visible scars viewed in sof?

Eeeeeee I've actually been meaning to make character sheets forever now but I hate drawing references LMAO. Maybe I'll do them after I write a significant portion of book 1

also for physical scars, idk man. It varies on person to person. I've got a lot of characters with visible scars. Trepidius has burn scars all over his left side, Fray has a bunch of scars of all types from healing others, Cross has one that runs down in a mostly straight line, avoiding the eye on the right side. It's kind of viewed neutrally.

also small ps: It'd be a lot easier to answer these questions if you narrow it down to one region/continent because it's a lot harder to place down how every race/culture views a certain thing as

If there are multiple languages in sof is there one language that's spoken by ( almost) everyone??

Yes actually there are multiple languages in SoF.

There's old Stellarian, a fae language, and it's your typical "can't tell lies" language but the reason why it's impossible to lie in old Stellarian is because of the grammar of that language is structured. I haven't gone too deep in that because I'm not that into linguistics to work out the grammar. Whatever I'm not Tolkien lol.

Then there's the Common Language, which. Yeah that's the name. It's supposed to be a joke. It stems from old Stellarian, but it's got a bit of everything from other languages. It's like English but in my setting.

There's regional languages in Stellaris, most of them corresponding according to what country you live in. There's regional dialects and stuff like that.

Ionians also have multiple languages, again, nationwise, but it's pretty clear actually. Demons have a couple of languages and then those have dialects. A lot of these are almost entirely spoken languages.

Old Stellarian and the Common Language have a similar script, except the latter has certain letter symbols that didn't exist in old Stellarian.

I like to imagine that sometimes other races can't understand one another because of their accents like they'd both be talking the common language but they have thick accents so the entire the conversation goes like this

" Hey do you know where ___ is? "

"Excuse me? What did you say"

"Huh"

"Huh??? "

okay fun fact actually, Fray and Cross could not understand a single thing they said because of their accents and they had to like. Talk very slowly with each other.

Hi it's been a long time since I've given an ask but I've been thinking about sof recently and this question popped up in my head!

I'd like to ask what would the different societies in sof think of agender, genderfluid, non binary or demigirl/boy people?

It depends.

Note: Throughout the whole story, and in the world, the people don't have labels for these identities. Actually they don't use a single label, because the etymology for those words and the places and history that lead to the creation of these labels simply never happens in Elysia, so generally most people describe their gender identity differently (they'd use the given definition of the identities. so a nonbinary person would say they feel neither male or female because the word "nonbinary" doesn't exist.) Anyway, with that cleared,

If you look in, say, Stellaris alone; people in Nebulus (the majority of them) will say you have a mental illness or something. They're. Yeah, a good chunk of them are exorsexist and transphobic. Nymphis folks are a bit more neutral, although there's still a bit misgendering here and there, because they're pretty influenced by Nebulus.

Florians are a lot more open-minded, especially people from East Floris, so it doesn't matter what your gender identity is to them.

Ascalyr genuinely doesn't give a shit. Compared to the rest of the continent, they are a strictly matriarchial society, and mostly disconnected from Low Fae. They still give more precedence to female presenting/fem people than those who don't, which is a bit sexist in a way but I mean. Better than being told you're sick in the head by Nebulus folks.

Demons also don't mind, they respect your identity and don't ask weird invasive questions. Ionians (humans) again, varies from person to person.
