people on here act like saying sexwork isnt 1:1 with working at mcdonalds means u hate women when the distinction is needed bc unlike a mcdonalds employee a sex worker can be imprisoned for doing her job, unlike someone working at target a sex worker cannot unionize for better wages, unlike the person who hates working at walmart the sex worker cannot report her boss* (*client) to the department of labor when they refuse to pay her or underpay her at risk of being fined and bc of having to pay said fine so she misses rent and becomes homeless thus forcing her back to sex work with the risk of jail all over again…..like we can say sex work is work and still advocate for people who do it in a way that acknowledges reality, plugging ur ears and saying there is no difference between someone working at applebees and someone who works the streets is not helpful, yes we are all exploited under capitalism, no you a popeyes employee are not the same as someone who risk being thrown in the back of a cop car for doing sex work while trying to support her two kids bc she has a felony due to prostitution on her record cant get a “regular” job, yall allow zero nuance and reality into these discussions and it helps no1
