actually fuck it i'm really fucking sick to death of seeing posts that are supposedly anti callout culture and then they just start fucking pulling out republican talking points. we have lost the goddamn plot. if you genuinely think people should mind their own business when it comes to abuse, or that most accusers are lying, or that if you weren't personally abused it doesn't concern you, you are a fucking conservative. you are a fucking conservative who is more scared that someone you like might get called out for grooming than you are about someone actually getting fucking groomed.
On a slight tangent, I do think callout posts are unhelpful and just petty internet drama being exaggerated the majority of the time. But I also think that the concept of a callout can be a useful tool to avoid genuinely dangerous or predatory people. And I do think it's actually quite easy to tell which is which, though you do have to take anything without concrete proof with a grain of salt. Though if the callout starts with some bullshit like "They like Hazbin Hotel and ship Wincest" it's quite literally a huge waste of time for everyone involved. At worst they're perpetuating some wider issue but they are not dangerous. You don't have to warn people about them. It's fine.
BUT (and this is personal, but whatever) I do think that sometimes callouts are helpful. When I was a kid I was actively talking to a grown ass man on here who would pressure me into doing "uncomfortable" things so he could get off to it. I knew it was wrong somehow, it felt off, but I was made to feel like it was just me making it weird. And the only reason I finally blocked this person is because I saw a callout by another kid my age saying "Hey, just a heads up, [grown ass man] is going around talking to little girls and making them [do stuff]" and in the replies I saw others my age saying "Yeah, he's doing that to me too" and that was a huge wake-up call.
Like, yeah, I do think "callout culture" is fundamentally fucked up in the way that people tend to use it as a tool for harassment, I don't want to undermine that especially, with how much of it is used to further persecute marginalized individuals. But it was also a callout post that saved me from a situation where I was being groomed, so I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater and say "warning people about actual predators is bad, because a lot of people abuse that tool"
I think there is nuance and I think there are situations where warning people about someone with a pattern of predatory and abusive behavior is, in fact, very useful and can save people. It saved me. It saved the other little kids in those replies. I never talked to any of them again but I hope they're all doing well, I hope they've moved on.
I guess this has just turned into me musing now. My point is every time I see a post that says that callouts are inherently bad, I half agree. Because I do think the way people tend to make them is in bad faith, and I know that this is specifically what OP is referring to. But also... Sometimes it is necessary. Sometimes it saves someone. I don't know.
I think bullshit callouts are more harmful than whatever "bad thing" the person in the callout did. They're not only tools for harassment but actively muddying the waters of what could be something that actually helps people. It would be great if we could all abide by an honor code, but obviously that won't happen. There has to be a better way, but for now I think all we can do is look at things on a case-by-case basis and use our critical thinking to decide if something is bullshit. And a lot of it is.

there is violence against ethnic groups happening all across the world, and while it is so important to focus on the palestinian genocide because awareness and liberation for one group opens avenues for other groups, it is also inexcusable, in an era of endless information accessible at our fingertips, in machines that we hold 8+ hours a day to be silent or uneducated on oppression simply because it is not covered in mainstream media, bottom line. that said, every day is an opportunity to learn and to do better, so i have compiled this information for those wishing to widen their lens outside of what is being widely covered, and for those wishing to help. sudan:

this is a non exhaustive resource. violence, oppression and genocide towards minority groups is widespread and ongoing, and not limited to these groups or resources. remaining uneducated is a choice, and an inexcusable one to make. the same systems used to oppress and kill ethnic groups across the world can be used on you, too.
if i have misspoken or added something that should not be here or is problematic, please let me know in the notes. please also feel free to make your own additions to this post.
