The ride to the Zoo is awkward at best, and Luis looks ready to crawl out of his skin with how suffocating the silence is. When they finally get to park's gate, Luis is only able to lead Leon a few meters in before he jumps back in alarm. His right arm is engulfed in flames and Leon immediately has to rush over and pull him back before he can help extinguish the fire.
"What's causing this?" Leon askes as he looks at the tender pink skin on Luis arm. "Everyone at the police Station just..burst into flames too, how is she doing this?"
"Well, you know how Eve can manipulate the cells of any living organism around her, right?" Luis explains, wincing as he shakes his tender arm. "This Spontaneous human combustion you're seeing is her manipulating every single cell in the human body into creating an enormous amount of energy all at once, thus causing it to overheat and combust!"
Leon frowns at the explanation and looks back where Luis had just been standing. "It looks like she has a limited range..." Leon muses before tentatively reaching out. Unlike Luis, his arm does not burst into flames, but instead he only feels a weird tingling sensation creep across his skin, like the air was filled with static cotton.
Luis just watches him intently, somehow not surprised that Leon seemed to be immune to Eve's powers.
"…Sancho did you're mother tell you anything about what happened here last time?" Luis asks as his eyes dart back and forth between Leon's blank face and unharmed arm.
Leon shakes his head. "No. She told me a few stories of when she was a cop, but nothing like…this." He sighs, knowing he needs to get this off his chest. "Why am I not affected?"
Luis hums, eyes distant for a moment as he ponders his words carefully. "Animals are known for adapting and evolving quirks to protect themselves against certain predators. Some people, yourself included, could have been born with an innate ability to resist Eve's powers."
Leon looks at Luis for a moment, somehow knowing there's more to it than that, but Leon isn't sure if he wants to know, so for now he keeps his mouth shut and moves on to another matter. "Is there any way to save Angela?"
Luis grimaces at that. "I honestly don't know. The two woman that were possessed by Eve before this were killed. Wither that was done on purpose or by accident, I have no idea."
A deep sense of sorrow burrows it's way into Leon's guts. He knew his mother would never kill someone needlessly without trying to help them first, which meant Angela's fate was pretty grim. Knowing he's wasted enough time already, Leon listens to every detail Luis can tell about the lab and takes his key card before heading inside the zoo.
Inside Leon finds dozens of burnt corpses curled up on the floor and is devastated to see some of them are children. Even worse, all the zoo animals had escaped and had been mutated by Eve into horrible monsters. The polar bears he found out were especially nasty, considering they were not only bigger but they could also apparently manipulate electricity to enhance their attacks.
As he fought, Leon could feel his body begin to heat up in response, his wounds healing while the foreign energy churned inside him. There were even a few times when he managed to somehow channel the energy into his gun, amplifying his bullets to the point where single round was as devastating as a hand grenade.
While wary of these new abilities, Leon can't help but be slightly curious about them and tries to see if he can use them to his advantage. Such a case occurs when he arrives at the lab's entrance and sees the door's electrical lock is malfunctioning. Thinking about it for a moment, he reaches out and grabs the lock and tries to concentrate. The energy inside him surges, flaring out and sending a jolt of electricity down his arm and into the door, causing it to unlock immediately.
He smiles, excited that his little trick work, but it vanishes as soon as he sees his arm. His skin is no longer pink, but tinted a weird blue color with a weird fin like appendage growing from the back of his wrist.
Panic seizes his heart and he lets go of the door in horror. The flaring energy in his body suddenly dissipates and after a few tense moments, the blue on his arm starts to fade while the new fin recedes back into his skin. He looks at his hand warily, flexing his fingers and bending his wrist, unsure if he actually saw the transformation that had just occurred.
He ignores the dread clawing at his brain and enters the lab, apparently deciding he just gonna treat this new development like he does as all his problems, ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist.
I saw a post saying that Boromir looked too scruffy in FotR for a Captain of Gondor, and I tried to move on, but I’m hyperfixating. Has anyone ever solo backpacked? I have. By the end, not only did I look like shit, but by day two I was talking to myself. On another occasion I did fourteen days’ backcountry as the lone woman in a group of twelve men, no showers, no deodorant, and brother, by the end of that we were all EXTREMELY feral. You think we looked like heirs to the throne of anywhere? We were thirteen wolverines in ripstop.
My boy Boromir? Spent FOUR MONTHS in the wilderness! Alone! No roads! High floods! His horse died! I’m amazed he showed up to Imladris wearing clothes, let alone with a decent haircut. I’m fully convinced that he left Gondor looking like Richard Sharpe being presented to the Prince Regent in 1813

And then rocked up to Imladris a hundred ten days later like
My friend. My colleague. My brother my captain my king. I too have been pondering this question, and in my mind there can be only one ultimate outcome.
So one day the group manages to go a mini vacation together after finishing a VERY rough mission. They decided to rent out a cabin by the lake, desperately needing the isolation and quiet atmosphere after the bullshit they just went through for a few days.
Of course they all decide to go relax by the water and Leon, after mulling it over a bit, decides to go swimming as a Dragon. The thought of the pendent slipping off his neck and getting lost in the murky depths forever made his anxiety spike just thinking about it, so he takes it off first and tucks it into Sherry's bag for safe keeping before diving into the lake.
He's honestly quite surprised at how well he can swim like this, his long body cutting through the water with little resistance. He even finds out that he can hold his breath for over 90 minutes and spends some of his time diving to the bottom of the lake, scavenging through the junk that had been collecting there for decades.
It quickly becomes a fun game and most of the group is huddled together by the shore, trying to guess and place bets on what Leon might find next. They watch as Leon manages to drag out a bike, an owl stature, some pretty shells/rocks, parts of an old boat, 3 handguns, and the creepiest find, a box filled with headless barbies dolls.
Needless to say, they actually end up having A LOT of fun.
