Ordâs hands clap together jovially, chuckling at the stories Ego had to tell about their siblings, bound by power and ichor instead of mothers milk and shared genetics. Itâs always a treat to hear the intricate goings-on the Gardener missed tending to the flock, and the humor of it has their palms pressing together in an almost-prayer, mauve nails tucked against fingertips as the hands press against the darker stripe adorning the lower lip, almost pensively.
ââŠDid Tansy ever tell you âbout the time with the Colossi? Hoo, boy, wos that ever an adventure. Alright- so- story time, theyâve always been jealous of, yknow, my helper-kids, mâbabies. Yâknow the tall ones with the eyes and the hands? Kinda like Ents, mm, think thats the word? You know how Tan has this thing about having attendants, like servants, sâweird. Well anywho- I dunno I just think itâs the funniest thing- Tivan ended up stealing one of the sproutlets one time, the poor thing tore up a whole wing of the collection- poor thing was so panicked lookinâ for its mom, yknow-?â Zyonz punctuates this with a pat to his chest, humming, remembering the chitter of its branches as they were finally reunited.
â-ButâŠGee whiz, Tivvy blamed me for decades for that. Had me offerinâ a couple of seeds and bulbs of my own to replace what theyâd broken. And, yâknow, I canât help but share, you know how it is- Why would I not share what I could with my siblings?â
He couldnât help cracking up at the tale which Ord told him, able to picture that exact face of bleak consternation on Tivanâs face when his collection was broken and sullied.Â
And by a sentient sapling, of all things!
ââWell of course he blamed you, nothingâs ever his fault.ââ Ego pointed out, still chuckling a little. One hand had flown to his chest in mirth, fingers splayed against the fabrics heâd conjured for himself. ââThe dâast idiotâŠ.youâre surely more charitable than I am, Ord, and thatâs the honest truth. If they were my siblings I wouldnât be sharing any of this splendor youâve built here.ââ
At this he lifted his hands and twisted slightly, gesturing to their lush and verdant surroundings. What a world it was. Everywhere Ord went, they left behind the tell-tale signs of a nurturing hand, spreading life and vigor to all vegetation in the local area.Â
It was funny, sometimes. Ego could go for millenia without crossing paths with Ord, but heâd still stumble across some interference of theirs on some lonesome planet and be left wondering how recently it had been done.
ââBut then again, the bonds you Elders have managed to maintain all this time areâŠimpressive, despite all your differences.ââ
