U.N. security council passed a shitfire resolution that will allow the zionist occupation to wipe Ghazzah off the map after Ramadan ends. This world is overrun by demons and I want no part in it.
The United States of Amerikkka pushed to replace 'permanent' with 'lasting', and then didn't vote. So the only 'guarantee' (remember that the zionist occupation has still bombed and killed its way through every ceasefire, albeit at a reduced rate) is a Ramadan-length zionist ceasefire.
And remember that before this comes in effect, the zionist occupation will do as much damage as it can before the ceasefire begins, just like it attacked every Ghazzan hospital in November of 2023 before the 4 day ceasefire.
May every zionist experience unbelievable pain and suffering, may they see a Nakba in their lifetime the way they forced us to live through one. May the suffering they inflict on Palestinians be returned to them.

Russia and China vetoed a resolution for a ceasefire proposed by the United States
…I don’t even know how to feel about this anymore. ah, well. thecurrentevents, at your service.
on March 22, 2024, a United States-proposed resolution to a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict failed in the United Nations Security Council. Russia and China, two out of five countries with absolute veto power, vetoed the resolution.
this is the first time there United States is backing a resolution with mentions of a “ceasefire” in it, showing the US’ toughened stance on Israel’s genocide in Gaza. but don’t let this fool you — Biden is losing votes among pro-Palestinian voters, and he’s doing everything he can to get these votes on his side. the GOP isn’t much better though.
according to the United States’ ambassador, this veto was probably a combination of reasons — they don’t like the United States (obvious), and they refuse to condemn Hamas for their actions.
according to the Russian ambassador, the resolution was written with the United States’ political agenda in mind, and the resolution did not go far enough to promise peace for the Palestinians.
according to the Chinese ambassador, the resolution does not clearly condemn Israel’s military campaign in Rafah that can lead to “severe consequences” (Russia, China veto).
considering how the United States vetoed three ceasefire resolutions before, stating it’ll disrupt hostage negotiations and Israel’s “self-defense” against Hamas, political agenda is likely in the resolution. this also shows that US-Russia/China relations are at an all time high. it’s a bad political era to be alive, I guess?
still. I hope a ceasefire attempt goes through soon. whenever that is.
sources underneath the cut:
US call for Gaza ceasefire runs into Russia-China veto at UN - New York Times
Russia, China veto US-led UN resolution on Gaza ceasefire - Reuters
you didnt read past the headlines because EVEN THE SUBTITLE on the nyt article is pretty clear on why they vetoed it.
the article itself really tries hard to pretend like thats a silly request and doesnt actually give the REAL reason why russia, china, AND algeria voted against the resolution. the reuters article you cited, however, clearly does:
btw the security council exists for this kind of checks and balances. the US refused any ceasefire for months but now you want us to believe theyve had a change of heart? no, theyre writing a proposal that allows israel to invade rafah. it is a disgusting slight of hand.
The US government recently tried to pass a bill that would make it illegal to boycott. Consumers saying that we refuse to buy from companies that fund or support genocide DOES have power and impact. The BDS movement also isn't an overnight trend. It can last years or even decades. That's the commitment. So what do you mean we aren't doing much? Many stores have had to be closed, and lots of money has been lost for Starbucks and McDonald's, as just 2 examples.
I also already wrote about the dangerous slippery slope of censorship. It doesn't make a difference if you don't like tiktok (even though, just to clarify -tiktok has a plethora of content, which includes plenty of amazing educational content creators too) -it's also where A LOT of people get accessible, up-to-date information about world events -including what has been happening in Gaza. You know -the genocide the US and many fellow countries are vehemently denying. A genocide that is being funded by US tax dollars.
"Emotional thinking" is also a very interesting concept to me because where do you think this passion comes from Congressional Representatives? Who so desperately want to shut down an app more than they want to end gun violence, to push for rent control, free tuition, universal Healthcare...
This defeatist mentality -this apathetic mentality is killing people. Shame on you.
This is really good but I also would like to point out that measuring boycotts by sanctions and other legal measures is not the most effective, as well as whether or not businesses close. The measure of effectiveness is by the direct demands being met — for example with Ben & Jerry's and Pillsburry. Most recently, PUMA. So our demands are being met, albeit more rapidly I feel in recent months. To say that it doesn't work is by far the laziest analysis of the goals of BDS or the intent of boycotting as a whole. If HP, for example, would withdraw their support, then so much of the surveillance software and hardware used would not be sustainable. They would have to scramble for a new contract. And with smaller business (that are not necessarily on HP level but big enough to know about) like Goldie's and the parent company that owns it, we have pretty direct demands there too.
I'm not saying I don't think Starbucks and McDonald's boycotts aren't working, I'm just saying there's material, direct proof of impact in Palestine that we can show with these boycotts that we should point to whenever possible to energize ourselves and really make companies worried.
i feel like the boeing whistleblower case should radicalize more people. a major airline company is producing planes with less and less regard for safety and it's starting to get noticeable. man takes them to court, which would reduce profit at the cost of public safety. he fucking dies the night that boeings legal team asks him to stay an extra day. if nothing happens about this, i hope it gets through to people that america would literally kill you for a few extra cents
