TDF Final Tally!
Ok, yeah, this is a bit late, but in my defense I did start a new job a few weeks ago and the fluorescent lights have been kicking my butt. I also spun through the end of August since I was out of town for a few days.
I ended up with 5 finished skeins totaling 524 grams. Yardage is pre-washing, so I imagine I'll end up losing a bit
White with speckles - 164 yards Blue and green - 150 yards Middle blue - 182 yards Dark blue - 122 yards White, blue, and green - 70yds
I have a few mini skeins from the left over singles, so the total finished yardage came out to 724 yards of plied yarn.
I didn't manage to finish the white and purple in time to ply it, but I'm hoping I'll end up with about 100 yards. 800ish yards of yarn should be more than enough to knit a Sea Glass tee.
The pastel rainbow single will hopefully end up around 500 yards. I think I'm going to split up the other half so I end up with a fractal.
All said and done I spun around 3,696 yards of singles!
(Sketch) commission for Danatfbee 😊💓
Listen…. He may be cheating, but if You could have ambiguous telepathic powers, wouldn’t you do the same 😒 besides it’s Soundwave I doubt he’s above lowkey cheating in things like fishing ngl. Anyways, I’ve been doing some fishing (irl) and I get the appeal once again 😮💨 I don’t do it often but I really do like it when I do, highly recommend
he makes me so mad sometimes. no, I don't know how he got up there, and yes he was crying pitifully for rescue
Generational levels of aura has just been lost just now 💔 enough to end a man’s life but unfortunately it’s Starscream so he won’t be lost to this somehow… but yknow I guess A for effort…
Tour de Fleece part 4
The last few weeks have been a bit weird, so I haven't gotten as far with my spinning as I wanted to. I started a new job last week, so the week before I went to see family and missed 4 days of spinning. I'm going to tack a few extra days on at the end, so I'll finish the 31st.
I've dropped my phone a few times recently, so image quality may not be the best. Both of these yarns turned out lovely! I was hoping that the yellow would mellow out a bit more on the top yarn, but I think it'll still look nice in the sweater with the rest of the colors.
The silk in the second yarn adds a nice bit of visual interest. I plied both of these yarns over the weekend, so they're actually my most recent finishes.
I was getting the urge to spin some lace, so I decided to pull out this Shaniko/Mulberry silk mix by Appena Fiber:
And I spun up the single this week:
This will be a two ply, but I need to decide if I want this to be a fractal yarn or not. The other ply won't get spun until after TDF, but I'll probably include the single it in my total yardage at the end of the month because spinning this thin gets me at least 500-600 yards per 4oz.
Up next is Damson from Paradise Fibers, which will be another spin for the sweater.
☀ cross stitch of a cat , which is about 1000 years old !
A textile fragment was found in Peru. It belongs to the Chimu or Chancay culture (pre-Columbian era X - XV centuries)
Okay once I kinda got back into the rhythm of using invisible thread it wasn’t too bad. Still more hours of work that it feels like it ought to have been, but it’s done. 410 beads attached.
Based on a Minoan dolphin rhyton in the archaeological museum in Heraklion.
Admittedly I am obsessed with this thing
I forgot to show you that the swirlies open up
Group selfiee 😛 Soundwave’s a little camera shy ok he’s used to lurking around Not being looked at 🤧 I wanted to draw these three cuties… cuz it’s certainly been a good while since I’ve done Jazterwave, they’re like 😎 a tomato. A blueberry. And whatever Jazz is. And I think that’s beautiful
Tour de Fleece update! We're just starting week 3, but I personally missed a week and a half due to vacation plans so I'm only about 2oz down of my project so far. I'll tack on the extra 10 days at the end to even it out.
After a very minimal amount of sampling I decided to spin a 3-ply yarn, with one ply being the sparkle fiber, one ply being solid orange, and one being a rough blend of the pink and yellow. I'm a little frustrated with the sparkle fiber though because there are a lot of white/ undyed pieces I have been pulling out as I go, so we'll have to see what the final yardage ends up as. And as usually I'm loving seeing everyone's projects this year! Now back to spinning!
Spinning progress this week has been limited due to stress
Working on the yak/silk blend because I haven't taken my other spindle out of my bag from vacation.
The drive bands on both my wheels need replaced thanks to Toad, so I'm sticking with spindles for the rest of the tour. Wheels will be fixed after we move in August.
TdF day 21 I think
I fell off posting a bit there but I’ve still been spinning. I was mostly working on the same batt and only really had chance to spin in the even so by the time I was done for the day it was too dark to take photos. But the batt single is finished! Today I plied the green whiteface woodland from the other day, and I’ve also plied my spindle spin but it’s too late to wind that off the bobbin so pics of that tomorrow
I don’t feel like I’ve spun as much this year as I usually do, or as much as I wanted to. I think my final day is technically Tuesday but I think I’m just gonna chain ply this single tomorrow and then call it on my tour de fleece for this year!
unauthorized fucking thing!!!!!!

source: hellgate osprey cam
More context:
the first osprey is the father, the one that comes later is the mother.
ospreys are not eagles, they're ospreys
ospreys only eat fish, that's why they don't register this starling as possible food
the starling got home safely
the starling was not trying to eat the eggs, it was mostly curious and you can see it trying to hop under the osprey every time the osprey tries to sit down again--this is because the starling is still a baby and has the instinct to get under an adult for warmth, even though it mostly has its feathers. this scares the osprey because that is a Foreign Creature near its eggs.
at the end of the video you can see the ospreys starting to turn the eggs. birds do this so the yolk and/or embryo don't stick to the shell of the egg, which is bad for the egg's health.
ospreys have eyes adapted to seeing beneath the surface of the water!
@critter-creature-or-beast im curious about something
not to be That Guy but i'm just going to add a quick correction to that one reblog: the first osprey (the one sitting on the eggs at the beginning of the video) is, in fact, the mother (not the father as the reblog claims)! her name is iris and she has been nesting at this spot successfully for a number of years now. the osprey who arrives later is the father, his name is clark (previously known as NG2/New Guy 2).
the hellgate osprey livestream is awesome btw, their first chick hatched recently and it is soooo cute!
good news, i have in fact been spinning for Tour de Fleece
meh news, i have not been posting about it because i'm tired
so here's a day whatever it is round up of some yarns i have recently plyed. haven't gotten around to washing them yet but i'm happy with them all
