honestly, what the f is happening

scrolling through tiktok. I don’t look up mileven or stranger things content because I know it will make me miserable when I look in the comments…so anyway, this woman pops up on my feed going on about the Super Bowl adverts and one for Volkswagen where if you spot the number on the back of the car and ring it you get a link to a website and…blah blah, it’s basically about finding Easter eggs. It’s a bit of fun, it’s got no link AT ALL to stranger things. At the end of all this searching you get the chance to win a ‘blue and yellow’ (it’s not) hat. The website is also suspiciously ‘blue and yellow’ (again it’s not, it’s a cream background with some moody, darkly light pictures of people with cars). I…I just…I don’t even know what to say. It obviously had nothing to do with stranger things or by/ler, but she really did believe there was hidden messaging for her, and only the ones who truly believe to find. It’s honestly slightly worrying! I know I’m vague posting about a woman on the internet on an entirely different app, and I don’t need to do that, but, I’m baffled!!! I genuinely feel…something I can’t comprehend. The post had like 15k likes too and almost zero people calling her out and it’s just like…🤷🏼‍♀️ what the f is happening. But the thing is, I keep seeing it happen!!! Social media is genuinely terrifying because she could just be buying likes or it could be bots but the thought that it’s people behind those likes is kinda terrifying ngl

don’t take this wrongly, as me saying not to theorise, but maybe relax a little.

like what is it with the performative Jane talk? I mean, call her Jane all you want, but the shows narrative clearly had no problem with El being called El

I guess while I’m rambling…I hate the radio station. They’ve tried to be clever with it but it still feels very materialistic - like Netflix went to the duffers and said we need a new location for a Lego set

Stranger things season 5 feels like a Covid season…

I agree that the writing this season is genuinely a step down; however, if your going into the show with a verbatim list of scenes that you have speculated and theorised are going to happen, yeah you’re going to be disappointed. The duffers aren’t mastermind writers at all. Genuinely when each episode was starting I looked at who had written each one, and I found I significantly liked those not written by the Duffers.

it’s just, I’ve seen the long analysis posts of each scene in the trailer, and while yes it’s fun to speculate, that’s all your doing, speculating. These posts get massive engagements and people get into the hive mind thinking like it’s a 100% going to happen in that way. It’s obviously going to be a let down if it doesn’t.

And I guess, it’s hard to put into words, but I think you really do have to take responsibility in making your own critical decisions once in a while, whilst engaging in fan content, but also still striking that balance of still enjoying yourself. Your brain is going to hurt after awhile of you don’t set limitations.

all I know for a fact, is that no matter what happens at the end of season 5 regarding ships, the Mileven tag is going to be hell on earth

maybe I’m just not as infatuated with the show anymore but the writing for those episodes felt weak, but not too a point that I didn’t enjoy myself. I believe 18 months(?) have passed since the end of season 4, but for most of the characters it doesn’t look like they’ve experienced that amount of time, if you know what I mean, it feels like a month, maybe two? We know El’s hair is longer and that she has been training. Erika and Holly are significantly older and that Steve and Robin have been working in that radio tower, but what about Jonathan and Nancy? What have they been up to over the year? Whats been happening to them over that period to shape them into the characters we meet in the first episode. Unless I missed a significant bit of backstory. The bullying storyline with Dustin would have been wrapped up in the first few months to a year with probably some residential tension between them, it just seemed too convenient to the plot in a way. Joyce just didn’t feel like Joyce. Are we sure Nancy wouldn’t have been trying to wiggle closer to the military during this period? Or am I fan-cannoning that one? But also Mike just not having any reactions to Holly being taken or his parents nearly dying. Overall the dialogue just felt stiff in places. Random placed items being used by a character to look at and suddenly come up with a big master plan. The stuff with Holy being the only person to see Henry was interesting but could have done with more build up. Love to see Max but those scenes did feel a tad unnatural. And my bad the cgi in some of those scenes where you clearly tell it was a blue or green screen, but that’s for another post. Idk there’s something about those episodes that definitely could have been tightened. I also feel like there is no seasonal identity. I could go on and on probably.

hoping these next couple of episode are decent and wrap things up neatly. I’ll probably still watch and enjoy them!

absolutely love the song, definitely going to be stuck in my head for days on end, however…(and maybe I’m the tiniest bit biased because I have the biggest soft spot for him) but I was left wanting so much more for Jeongin’s shots. Honestly some more colour to the set and outfit, some extras on the sidelines like the other solo shots, more variety to the physical shots but I guess what can you expect from a more ‘stationary’ sport compared to the others. I don’t know, I wanted more interest to the scenes, and to be fair, I think it could have been easily achieved.

big + but where was Jeongin’s shot with the champagne celebrating? He gets the shot biting the medal, but again it’s a less pleasing shot compared to the interest of the others. Even with Han not popping champagne, he gets this really cool and interesting shot of him sliding on his knees.

Jeongin’s most likely fine about it and he definitely looks more than happy performing the song on stage, but my sweet little heart was left wanting more FOR him.

I do wish we had more interacting shots too between the members, I get the connection of the ball between each shot to link it all together, but like some more shots together playing the sports could have been nice. I sound like such a miserable person, but don’t get me wrong I actually really loved the song and the video, I think creatively I’m always going see where i would like something to happen when in reality it’s perfectly fine.

his scenes/shots just very lonely. Like the members, even without direct interaction with each other, have some sort of interaction with other people…but again, Felix doesn’t interact with anyone either. His shots in the video are more interesting though and have more variety

i do understand though if you really don’t like something on the first listen, you don’t want to listen to it again, but like, people give things more than one shot I beg

do you ever see a really popular, well liked post that you disagree with and know it’s only talking from a one sided point of view and bias, but if you comment your criticism of it you know it’s only creating unnecessary drama and putting yourself in a place where you don’t need to be. However, you know that the post is cross tagging but widely catering to one major majority who are hyping it up to be the best thing in the world and they are therefore not seeing any criticism to that view and it isn’t challenging their ideas so it’s gonna inflate their already set in stone ideas and create more drama in the future…

i am sincerely so tired of the mileven hate from people in the stranger things fandom. any meaning or thematic or textual value this ship has to offer is completely dismissed by so many and it’s so upsetting to me. beyond the supposed “ship war” why is there entire swathes of this story that this entire fan base outright refuses to engage with? or be honest about? they won't even acknowledge the ship EXISTS. accounts that love and have posts about every canon ship EXCEPT mileven? why? even beyond preference people have a FLAGRANT DISTAIN for them?? that they are decidedly proud of having? i completely don’t comprehend that attitude. like ofc you are free to be more concerned with what fascinates you most in the story, but this is a show so rich with meaning to digest that i can’t understand why people treat their plot line like it’s devoid of anything compelling or worthwhile. what is this insistence on downplaying their (and, in my opinion, consequently el’s) role in the story? everyone would rather MAKE STUFF UP than take mileven into account?? it’s completely absurd to me.
