The results for the survey are now available! The full results and discussion are linked above, and below the cut is a very compressed summary of the most clear results. You can also see comparison of my results with the data from AUREA's 2020 Aro Census in the linked document.

The most popular arospec labels were aromantic (79%), arospec (36.6%), and grey-aro, questioning, demiromantic (13.6%-17.3%)

The most popular sexuality labels were queer (43%) and bisexual (39.3%).

Ace-spec orientations got 11.4%.

10.4% didn't label their sexual orientation or just used allosexual, and 4.2% did not use the SAM.

64.6% were not cis, with specifically 48.8% being trans. 30.6% were cis.

No clear majority for romance-repulsed, -neutral and -favorable.

However, sex-favorable did get a majority (50.4%).

The most preferred spellings are alloaro (34%), aroallo (16.8%), and allo-aro (8.3%).

60.3% thought that some ace-spec aros could use the term allo aro. Out of them, 16.7% thought that while they can be included, allosexual aros should be prioritized.

While the majority (35.4%) did feel at least somewhat represented in the general aro community, a large amount of people (33.1%) did not feel fully welcome or did not feel welcome at all.

More people (49.5%) think alloaro representation has increased over the last 3 years, but a lot (37.2%) are unsure.

26.7% considered their orientations inherently linked, 32.7% considered them partially linked, and 22% did not.

The majority (55.6%) did not think their allo aro identity influenced their gender.

85.5% subscribe to relationship anarchy.

40.8% were not strictly monogamous or polyamorous, ambivalent, or unsure, 28% were polyamorous, and 16.7% did not use any of the labels provided.

31.5% said their opinion on wanting a relationship varied or they had no strong preference, and 51.3% wanted a relationship.

Most popular choices for ideal relationship types were queerplatonic (56.6%), friends with benefits (51.5%), and platonic (32.8%).

The majority of people (65.5%) thought their aro identity influenced their sexual attraction.

87.5% of people experiencing tertiary attraction do not label it with a prefix.

The 2026 Gender Census is now open!

The 13th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th August 2026.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

For Pride Month, I thought I'd turn my beaded stars into an obnoxiously prideful charm bracelet.

This piece uses techniques and materials covered in my Bead Pin Bracelet, Bead Star Garland and Bead Star Pendant tutorials. I'd recommend using a chain with shorter links if you want to squeeze on a bunch of flags, as the links on this paperclip chain made it difficult to add more stars while still spacing them evenly along the chain.

Let’s take a moment to remind everyone how you can submit your fanworks to this event:

- Make a new post on tumblr and use the tag #AggressivelyArospecWeek (in one word) in the first five tags.

- Make your post on your blog and then submit a link to it through our submission box.

- If you don’t want to come out as arospec on your personal blog, you can submit your work anonymously to us and we’ll post it for you.

- For our fanfiction writers that use AO3 to publish their work, you can add your fics to the #AAW26 collection by searching the collection’s name (Aggressively Arospec Week ‘25 or AAW26) on the settings of your fic. The Collection is currently closed, but we’ll open it the first day of the event.

What's happening this Pride Month at #AggressivelyArospec?

June is going to be a busy time on our blog!

As you probably know, we recently celebrated our 10th anniversary (yes, TENTH. Can you believe it?) and, as part of the celebration, we worked on a zine filled with messages from other members of this community. It's so charming, we love it, and you can read it, download it or print it to keep it close!

Also, in a few weeks, our fan content event, #AAW, will take place. During this week, you can enjoy and share content of your favorite aro characters created by aro creators. We hope you're as excited as we are!

In addition, both #AMM and #ATT will continue as usual every Monday and Thursday of the month (except for June 22nd and 25th), because there's never enough aro movies and music.

Happy pride! If you’re looking for aspec stories, I could recommend you my RPG Maker games.

-Friendship Test: A long story-focused game that explores different aspec identities (aromanticism, aplatonicism, lovelessness…). Lots of aspecs have seen themselves on this game, maybe you’re next. Jokes aside, it’s a passion project that means a lot to me and it’s completely free for you to enjoy!

-Exe tries to save the holidays: A short follow-up to Friendship Test! While the main focus is not on aspec themes, we do have an aspec protagonist whose identity is important for her character. The game only costs 1,30$!

-Estranged Family: A spin-off to Friendship Test which is currently on development, but there is a 2 hour long demo available! I continue to explore more aspec themes here, maybe you’ll like this one too!

-Obsolete Friends: A short semi-horror game, unrelated to the Friendship Test series. Aspec themes are not the main focus, but there are aspec characters that are important to the story. It’s my newest game and it costs 2$!

Did I create this display to celebrate Aromantic Visibility Day? Nope, this is how my dolls dress every day...

(Between my doll dresses, backpack, jewellery, bookmarks and writing, aromanticism looms large in my creativity. Visibility, though, isn't just about pride colours or fictional representation. It's about making space for the diverse experiences, fears, needs and hopes of aromantics living in communities that struggle to reckon with our existence.)
