Ohhh, that detail…. 😍
I saw a bedspread at the Burnaby Village Museum that looks like this pattern -- I took photos in hopes of recreating it and now the internet has gifted me the link to the pattern. Thank you, internet!

Zalipie – The Most Beautiful Village in Poland
A small ancient village in South-Eastern Poland, Zalipie, is definitely one of the country’s top tourist attractions. Not because it has five-stars hotels or massive glass buildings, but on the contrary, due to its small wooden cottages, which are painted in the most vibrant colors.
This lovely tradition started with more than a century ago, when every single female resident in Zalipie begun to paint her home with floral motives, as she wanted to cover up some particular faults. And since the women didn’t have professionally made equipment, they manufactured the brushes themselves, using hair from the tails of their cows. As or the paint itself, women used fat from the dumplings they made.
One woman in particular became really obsessed with this tradition. Her name was Felicja Curylowa (1904 – 1974) and she decorated every surface of her three-bedroomed cottage, no matter how small or large. Shortly after her death, the beautiful house was turned into a museum.

I have NEVER seen a more accurate representation of this satanic industry
People see things like this, or the customer scenes in Superstore and think, “These are just extreme exaggerations. No one could possibly act like that.”
They would be wrong.

someone in your class mentions communism. they speak about it at length. you are in biology class.
you text your mother. she does not respond for 3 days. you text her again and then realize that it has only been 2 hours since your first text.
freshmen travel in packs. what are they afraid of.
your class is in room 153. the numbers start at 201. you cannot find the first floor.
someone is talking about communism. it is not the same person as last time. this is an english class.
your transcript says you have an A in philosophy 3310. you do not remember taking this class. what did you learn? what did you do?
you meet your elevator buddy. you do not speak. you never do. you ride in silence. one day, they are not there. you miss them.
your advisor refers you to the registrar. the registrar refers you to admissions. admissions refers you to both the registrar and your advisor. you have spoken to two people who do not exist and one who has been dead for ten years.
the boy who sits next to you wears the same clothes everyday. you think this is strange but when you mention it, he tells you that this is the first time he has worn this outfit. you realize that you have lived this day before.
you pass someone sleeping in the quad. he has always been there. stop looking at him.
someone answers, “communism.” it is not someone who has been previously mentioned. the question was, “what is an example of the art of ancient greece?”
you have a doppelganger on campus. you have never met them. they know all of your friends.
the seniors speak only to professors. their eyes are dead. they have given up the safety of the pack long ago.
the professor is talking about STD’s. your math class is very strange.
the powerpoint is in comic sans. you suspect that your economics professor is an extraterrestrial being after all.
“communism,” the man serving you lunch insists. wearily you nod. that’s what everyone says.

Defunding Planned Parenthood will be in reconciliation bill.
Y’ALL.
CALL YOUR REPS AND YOUR SENATORS. MAKE NOISE.
“Hi, I’m a constituent from [town], and I’m calling to urge [rep name] to oppose all attempts to defund Planned Parenthood.”
I want to tell you a thing about Planned Parenthood: Planned Parenthood is the reason a lot of people are alive. They offer medical services – anything from annual check ups to “i have a bladder infection” to “I need a prescription for antidepressants” – to people, and most of them have a sliding scale payment system that allows them to offer services to low-income people and people without insurance.
That is why they receive federal funding at all – so that poor people who are sick can see a doctor. So that poor people who aren’t sick can receive preventative medical services. That is why they are subsidized by the federal government. Part of the government’s money goes to make up the difference between what poor people can pay for their medical treatment and what that treatment actually costs Planned Parenthood.
Regardless of where you stand on issues of abortion, you should know that they are already prevented from using federal subsidies to fund abortion services. So when conservatives talk about defunding Planned Parenthood and try to hide behind the excuse of “well I don’t want my tax money paying for abortions,” they are full of absolute shit. They are just trying to take away one of the few sources poor people have to stay healthy and treat their illnesses, and it’s not like they’re contributing to our GoFundMe’s when we end up in the emergency room because we couldn’t afford to receive preventative treatment. Fuck that shit.
Don’t stand for this.
Phone calls from constituents blocked the gutting of the congressional ethics office. Phone calls from constituents can block this, too. (You are still a constituent if you are represented by someone, whether you can vote yet or not; this is something teens can do.)
People in the US: get on your phone on Friday. Call your rep, regardless of party. If your rep is a Republican, especially call them. The call will take less than 5 minutes, unless the office is overwhelmed, in which case, stay on the line. Most offices only count you if you speak to someone.
This is way more effective than tweeting at them or making petitions or whatever! Boosting this!
Call Congress. Call Senators and House Reps. They can’t hide.
Kintsugi or Kintsukuroi is a Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with lacquer or resin mixed with powdered gold. They believe that when something’s suffered damage and has a history it becomes more beautiful.
