Hi, everyone! I've opened headshot/bust up commissions on VGen for $20-$25 USD ~(´∀`~)
I'm trying to save up money to replace my almost dead computer right now, but it's a bit of a struggle. The place I work at is inconsistent with how much they have for me to do. Currently, I'm going in once a week and only earning about $150 USD. I'm unable to go full time due to mental issues and my physical fatigue, so I'm a bit stuck ( ´~`)
You don't have to commission me, but it would be a huge help! Making art is all I can really do in return, haha
Here is the link to my VGen, but you can also just put vgen.co/allovertheplace into your browser <3
And if you don't want to commission but still wanna help, here is a link to my kofi where you can donate for as little as $1! You can also put ko-fi.com/allovertheplace into your browser ( ´∀` )b
Here are some examples of my art :
(For additional examples of my art, you can look on my Tumblr and Instagram feeds!)
Thank you so very much for your time! I would appreciate reblogs greatly so people can see me, but any sort of interact would go a long way. Thank you so much again <3
I only have 2 commission slots available, but I plan to reopen them quite frequently. I'm just trying to make it more manageable for me (〃´▽`)/
This post is a compilation of things I've done for my oc Joshua Herring! From doodles to illustrations and potentially little comics :D
⚠️ Small content warning for this character: abuse and violence ⚠️
Joshua, Shua for short, originally started as a yandere character but grew into something more. His story begins with him in high school during his junior year at a small private school, a trip to a ski lodge announced for his grade..
Due to his past, he has major attachment issues. He's an illegitimate child between his mother and father, his father viewing his mom as a mistake but taking Shua because he needs an heir for his company. Though every time he sees Shua, he can only see the lower class woman who should've never happened.
Shua initially got to see his mom as a young child, but when his father caught on to her "feeding her ways" to him...Shua was forbade from ever seeing her again. Now all he has is remnants of their time together. A DIY mirror, a DS, and some seashells. His father doesn't know and he intends to keep it that way.
It was after the separation from his mother that he deteriorated. His father was always less than kind, but he became extremely abusive after the separation. Not just emotionally, but now physically. The only things his father buys him, other than the necessities, is concealer and books. Specifically books on business and advanced topics. It's his father's way of molding him further into an heir worthy of the family name...at least until he produces another.
His father often brings women over for dinner, ladies who hail from other well-off businessmen or companies that are doing well. It's something Shua hates because he has to abide by even stricter rules during their stay. And if his father ever goes on trips, Shua is purposely left behind. Something that he relishes in, but still knows he has to abide by the rules...lest his father looks through the cameras and sees him breaking them.
At school, Shua comes across as reserved and stiff yet kind. Even being an honors student and part of the student council. Students who are more perceptive, however, talk amongst themselves and their friends about how he seems...ingenuine. A byproduct of being detached from the world and also from harboring a lot of hate toward people. Which comes from how he looks down on others, bitter at how much nicer their lives are and how they get to smile and have fun.
One day though, he's asked to tutor an upperclassmen, Xilea, who's struggling with AP Math. It's through this that he makes his first, real friend. They don't know each other well, but it's enough for him to tighten his grip. Something he eventually understands as an unhealthy attachment. During one of their tutoring sessions, she notices the bruising beneath his collar and armcuffs. She doesn't get a proper answer on it, but he knows she understands.
It all comes to a tipping point during the ski trip. At first, it..wasn't really his intention to hurt anyone. He didn't want to, it just stopped feeling like a choice. There was only a few months left of the school year, Xilea would graduate and move away, and Shua would be stuck without reprieve—without joy—again. He doesn't have a phone to keep contact, let alone a way to get one behind his father's back.
The first one he gets rid of is a classmate, Allan. Someone who got along with him and tried to include him in things like sports and art. Someone who was trying to be his friend, but was always blocked out. Shua pretends to stop to tie his boots whilst pointing Allan in the wrong direction of the group, indirecting leading to Allan dying in the woods from the cold.
The second was more unintentional. An actual accident. Other than Xilea, there was one other upperclassmen on the trip to help chaperone, Lily. They had been making dinner for everyone when Lily tripped with a knife. Shua tried to reach forward and pushed her, trying to get her to fall against the counter so she wouldn't get hurt. It...didn't work. This was when he started losing it.
For the third, he actually did it with his own hands. Wielding a baseball bat from the storage room, he takes out the guidance counselor that had been on the trip with them and was watching over him after Lily's death.
This allowed him to do the fourth and final kill. Malorie, Xilea's roommate during the trip. All he did was connect the hairdryer and put it in the tub where they had fallen asleep.
Xilea didn't catch on until his teacher divided everyone into groups of two for safety, with her ending up with Shua. He was far more reactive than he normally would be and constantly tried to keep it so only they'd be together. She started to understand that he...might've done something bad.
Though she keeps it to herself, discreetly calling the police when he's asleep. Trying to minimize the damage and keep everyone safe.
Joshua Herring ends up arrested a few days later, but instead of prison...his father pays money to have him put into a mental institute. Through the time he spends there, he's taught to fear himself and shamed for wanting connections with people. Other issues arise from this, though perhaps they had always been there. It's not until he gets out 8 years later that he's informed to be in his mother's care, having been quietly disowned by his father.
This is where he begins healing, terrified of himself and the connections he might make with others. Feeling more than undeserving of joy. But now...with someone who loves him and wants him to have a future that he chooses.
He picks up writing and becomes a novelist, working out of his room until he can afford an apartment. Parting from his mother again, but remaining close with her urging.
