Final #2
(Left is mine)
Materials/ Title: I again decided to use a wooden plaque to complete this piece, and I like the texture it gave the sky. After completing my two pieces, I realized I really enjoy painting on wood! I also used water color for the sky, water color markers to outline my mountains, and I used colored pencils to fill them in. I found a couple magazine clippings to use as my trees. The title I would give my piece would be “The road”. The road is the focal point of my piece and it looks like it is going into the sky. I wanted viewers to think about where the road would end up taking them.
Complimentary colors: I decided to use red and green as my complimentary colors. I used two different shades of green for the sky, and I kept my mountains all red so they would stand out.
Inspiration from a classmate: I was inspired by @smorfin5, and his piece with the road and bright, colorful sky. I really liked the look of his piece and how the road got narrow, so I wanted to recreate that. I kept his same ideas with the mountains and the two small trees because I felt like simplicity was best for this piece.
Visual/ conceptual goals: For my piece I wanted the viewers to focus on the road. It stands out, and it looks as if it just stops in the sky. I wanted my viewers to think about the road, and where it would take them. At first it made me think of driving through the dessert, but after I noticed it going into the sky, I realized the potential for more creative thinking. What road do you want life to take you down?
