Before I go on a date, or meet with someone new, I put on a different shirt from the last date or situation on which I was taken advantage of or hurt deeply on purpose by a man. I wear different earrings. I listen to different songs beforehand. Eat a different meal. Set the date to be at a different time. New perfume. New setting. New time of day.
Women do so much in the form of so many little things to protect themselves. To try to prevent the next man from hurting them. We do silly things. Irrational things that could never work. And still we do them. I don’t believe in magic or charms. But still I do this. Foolish, still I do this.
