“In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, We will not be cowed by fright, Let those who choose hate meet my light, - For when it’s darkest - The Good Burn Bright.”
Do you know what a sister is? A sister is someone who sees your sorrow and refuses to stand for it. A sister is someone who sees how unhappy the news and injustices of the world have made you and decides to do something to make you smile. My sister is a phenomenal artist, a fantastic person, and the galaxy’s best sister. I will cherish her art and her spirit long after the pencils have faded and - hopefully- the message has become unnecessary. She reminds me that E Pluribus Unum, Out of Many One, still stands.
My poem is a play on the Lantern’s Oath, my take for this current day. The quote is from Shepard Fairey, the man who designed the latest diversity posters.
