Clarke’s wrinkled her nose. “Octavia, that’s my mom you’re talking about. I don’t need or want those images in my head.” She paused. “How is she, anyway? I take it she didn’t react well to finding out I was gone.”

“No, she didn’t. That’s part of the reason Kane’s so...protective. I think he’s convinced she’s going to do something stupid. To be honest, I wouldn’t exactly put it past her. She really misses you.”

“I don’t know, but hiding it from her isn’t going to make it any better. Maybe there is no right time, but you’ve still gotta tell her. Otherwise she’ll freak out, and the last thing we need is a freaked out Chancellor.”

“Right, and when she asks where Clarke is? She’s gonna want to see her, Bell. She’s smart. We can’t just lie to her.”

   The question wasn’t supposed to come    over his lips but then it just happened.    He sighed: “I did all of this so you would    be safe and let’s be honest. They need    Clarke, not me.”

The question made Octavia pause for a moment. Their entire lives, Bellamy had always been the one looking out for her. He’d sacrificed a lot so that she could be happy. Looking at him now, she began to wonder if maybe this was her turn. “They do need you Bell, but...fine. I’ll stay. I just... need something to do, okay? Something active.”

“ Do I even have to answer that? They would be pissed and you know it – more importantly though, Bellamy probably would just go out looking you anyway. ”

“I don’t see why. It’s not like I’m their kid anyway. They floated my mom. Bell’s the only family I’ve got.” She sighed. “Ugh, you’re right. I just...I feel like I can’t breathe here!”

Without another word nor sound her heels sank in her weight, fingers lied framed in open grasp, an honor of boldness awaken at stance, body leaning fort in escalating steps pouncing in an axle; no attacked struck in aim of her, only in awaiting the motions of the other, she said show her nothing else.

Octavia had leaned a lot in her time as Indra’s second, and one of the first lessons the other woman had drummed into her was patience. So she just met Anya’s gaze and let her hands flex a bit, ready to grab her sword if she needed it.

“Oh no, definitely not. I wonder what they’d do if I just went total Grounder on them, scuffed them up a bit.”

“She couldn’t bare it. That’s what she told me, so she just left.” Bellamy could feel his heart breaking. “She’s gone, O.”

“Well where the hell is she gonna go? You realize Abby’s gonna freak out when she finds out about this, right?”

“Hovering, completely and utterly doting on to the point where even she’s noticed, same thing, right?”

Kane had put her family through hell, and as a result she wasn’t sure how she felt about knowing that little piece of information. “Well that’s…kind of interesting, and kind of disturbing.”

“Oh Princess. Always so optimistic.” Still, that had brought a smile to Octavia’s face. “I guess you’re right. I just…wish he’d stop being such an ogre about me dating. He’s not my dad, he’s my brother. I don’t need to be protected like I’m some kid anymore.”

“Someone’s gotta be the optimist.” She grinned. “Maybe you should find someone for him to date, that way you could get some privacy? Then maybe he’ll understand that you aren’t a kid and that it’s okay for you to date and he’ll back off?”

“It’s called studying!” Clarke shouted, with a smile as she looked at the ring. “Oh my.. Me? You’re maid of honor? I dunno, I’m very busy these days.. YES. Of course I’d be happy too,” Clarke said, throwing her arms around Octavia in a hug. “Thank you so much for asking me, and congrats”

Octavia laughed and returned the hug. “Of course you! Who else am I gonna ask, Indra? I want to marry Lincoln, not kill him.”
