Iris West: A Reason to Leave

Iris has every right to be angry because Eddie is keeping something from her. However, it is surprising that she did not give Eddie any slack after speaking with Barry. Their conversation seemingly swayed her, at least little, but in the end it did not and one has to wonder why. 

Eddie has been good to her. She has a good relationship. There has been no reason to leave. However, the cracks in “Mr. Perfect” are finally starting to show. The allure of a new relationship inevitably fades into an arduous undertaking that requires compromise, patience and understanding. At this juncture in their relationship, Iris has to decide if Eddie is worth fighting with and if their relationship is worth fighting for. 

Iris has stood firm on the fact that she is with Eddie and that she loves Eddie. Both statements are rooted in truth. Unfortunately, this truth is not planted solid ground. It slowly erodes with each passing day as her feelings for her best friend evolve from platonic to romantic. 

As her once easy relationship with Eddie becomes more of a task, she will have to decide if she wants to continue to build on one year or continue to cultivate a lifetime. With Eddie she is still learning whether or not she can accept him flaws and all. On the other hand, she has accepted her best friend for better or worse and knows that he has done the same for her.

So the question becomes: Why would she hold on to the temporary when she already knows who she never wants to let go?
