Lunar Eclipse || Gladion&Moon
((Look who found five mins in their hiatus to post a starter lol)) Starter Call: @alolatrained The days were getting longer, the nights were becoming shorter, summer was upon them and Gladion could feel the stress. It seemed as if the increase of tourist mirrored the increase of paperwork. Normally, Gladion didnāt mind paperwork, in fact he preferred the silent, peaceful solitude of working in his office. Except, he found his office lacked an important element- air conditioning. Thatās how he found himself, sitting on the railing of Hauāoli cities beachfront, watching the setting sun splash vibrant hues of pinks, oranges and reds across sky which in return seemed to dye the ocean in warm tones. Sipping the iced roserade tea he had purchased from the pokemon center, Gladion closed his eyes and enjoyed the cool breeze that ruffled his hair, not even minding as it lifted his bangs away from his face. Heād almost forgotten what it felt like to be out in the open, the moisture rich air, constant buzzing of tourists and floral breezes. Maybe staying in the stuffy office wasnāt as wonderful as he had assumed, there was a certain ambiance to Alola that made him feel alive as he watched the hustle and bustle of all types of people in and around Alola. Just as he began to sink back into his relaxed state, he heard someone shout his name in panic. He furrowed his brow and tried to locate where it was coming from, the feminine voice ringing with familiarity. Just as he spotted her, he realised something black and pink was coming straight for him and cursed loudly, flailing off the rail and dropping his tea in the sand as he narrowly dodged a Pyukumuku that went sailing over his head and straight into a passing tourist. He blinked in confusion, struggling to regain his bearings and make sense of what had just happened, when a hand appeared in his line of sight. His eyes followed up the small hand, thin arm and eventually up to the face of Moon, who was smiling sheepishly and offering him help. He felt his mouth twitch upwards in amusement, but quickly pulled them down in a frown and stood up himself, brushing the sand off his white coat. āMoon? What is a champion like you, still tossing around cucumber pokemon? I thought that was just a part time gig, and Iām pretty sure being champion is a full-time job?ā
Helping out the citizens of Alola was always a full-time job. Well, at least for smaller things like this.
Moon had been working at this beach for quite a while now, flinging Pyukumuku into the seas where they needed to live. While the Pokedollars given werenāt a concern at all anymore, it was the fact that it still needed to be done. See, the person that had started doing it full-time was sick, and needed a replacement. Sheād happened to be on Akala at the time for PR-related things, but had gotten pulled aside by the lifeguard and asked to do this. It wasnāt too long of a job, and well, it was kinda fun! So why not?
What she didnāt expect to happen was one of the Pyukumuku slipping from her hand. In her frenzied attempts to stop it, she only pushed it further on the path it was on⦠and straight for a familiar face. She cursed under her breath, running forward and calling out.
āGladion! Move!ā Luckily, he did. Unluckily, he tipped over a rail. Also unluckily, she hit someone else. Boy, that sucked. She winced, jogging the rest of the way forward to help Gladion. As she came into reaching distance, she held out a hand for him to grasp, giving him an embarrassed smile. Once he took it, she helped to pull him up before crossing her arms.
āIāve had an interesting day. Weāll get into that in a moment, though. Are you alright? That was quite the tumble there.ā
āIāve had an interesting day. Weāll get into that in a moment, though. Are you alright? That was quite the tumble there.ā
He nodded grumpily confirming that he was fine and sent his discarded tea a melancholic glance, unconsciously frowning. He returned his gaze to Moon, noting that her clothing seemed to be damp. So she really has been throwing sea cucumbers into the sea.Ā
āAn interesting day? I guess I can relate to that, but what I meant was why youāre on Akala?ā Not that he wasnāt happy to see her, she was always a breath of fresh air with her spunky attitude and kindness that had been so foreign to him. Being on Akala island brought forth his memory of first meeting her. He was still an enforcer for Team Skull at the time and had stumbled into Hau, who he knew to be Halaās grandson. After winning the battle between Hau and himself, he had been lecturing the carefree trainer when she appeared, ready to talk him down. He let a hint of a smile touch his lips as reminisced, realizing that they had come such a long way from then, Moon now being one of his closest friendsĀ Ally. A small squishing noise made him perk up and the Pyukumuku that initially had tried to nail him in the face came bouncing back and settled at his feet. With a snort of amusement and a roll of his eyes, he picked up the slimy creature and tossed it in the air before catching it again. Shuffling forward into the sand, he tossed back a sassy, yet obviously friendly remark over his shoulder to Moon.
āWhy donāt I help you get these slimeballs back into the ocean first and then you can unload your daily monologue on me.ā In other words, Gladion wouldnāt mind catching up after helping her, but heād never admit that on his life.Ā
Ah, the cost of being champion. No free time to spend with your friends.
āWhy donāt I help you get these slimeballs back into the ocean first and then you can unload your daily monologue on me.ā
Well, that was a fun proposition. Theyād get this done a bit faster that way. And with that, the two got to work. It wasnāt a hard job, and it was made even more pain-free with twice the amount of hands. Once they were finished, Moon dusted off her hands, wiping the slime on her shorts.
āWell then,ā she muttered, giving the beach one last cursory glance before nodding.Ā āLooks like weāre about done.ā Their area of duty was completely clear now. Record time, in fact. Good for them. With a small huff, Moon turned to Gladion with a small smirk.Ā āSo... you still in for myĀ ādaily monologueā?ā
Maybe not a monologue, more of a quick recap of the events of the day. Monologues were for people like Guzma.Ā
