When Beatles producer George Martin was sick Harrison arrived to see him in his brand new McLaren F1 sports car, which could reach speeds of 230 mph. At Martin’s bedside he presented the former Beatles producer with a small statue of the Hindu god Ganesh. Good health and wisdom, Harrison said, derives from finding pleasure in the smallest, simplest things. He then drove off in his million-dollar jet-car at something close to the speed of sound, leaving the cosmic contradiction trailing in his wake.
