Is it Over? || Reckoner Wrap-up Drabble

Somehow everything stopped and it was all over and soon the two Karen’s were face to face to each other.

“Eh...” Karen said, “No way, you’re me...”

“Yes,” Alt!Karen said, “but it seems like it’s all over. But before I go, I must give you my memories. They might help.”

Karen asked, “But why?”

Alt!Karen answered, “They’re may be a greater enemy that combats the scientists. Hate this place all you want, but it could be considered a safe haven to others.”

Karen said, “ I know that and I see what you mean.”

The Alt!Karen disappears into white light, and Karen experiences a massive headache. The alternate’s memories sorta flow in all at one, but not show themselves yet. At the same time, she returns to her hearing grows less powerful and crystal sword disappears as well.

Is it truly over? for she fears there may be worse to come.

α нαη∂ lifted itself to the back of his neck, scratching–an obvious, nervous habit he had always had, and never knew when it developed. Not that Nagi had ever paid attention to such things like that anyway, as no one really pointed it out.

“You seem to be pretty knowledgeable!“ He had hoped it came across as a compliment, as that’s how he intended it. “All the districts are pretty weird…”

“Well there are people in this place that are a bit stranger,” Karen said, “It’s a mystery on how the scientists even find these people.”

She knew what he meant, but honestly, she wished that there was more that she can tell him.

“ѕσ тнєяє'ѕ nothing even kinda similar between everyone here?” That went the only theory he had, even if it was very much so a work-in-progress. Nagi deflated even more at that, and the more he heard about scientists the more he grew frustrated with them.

Powerful beyond belief, to drag all of them here. He let out a loud groan, closing his eyes and tilting his head back. “Man!” The boy groused loudly. Even if he knew complaining wouldn’t get anything done.

“Well unless you count the people that come from the same world then maybe,” Karen admitted, “They’re maybe personalities that are quite the same, but I’m not entirely sure.”

She hasn’t met that many people to be sure.

“Sorta the same, I guess,” Karen said, “Though I imagine you’ve been here longer than I have. I’m Karen by the way.

“ Considerably so! I have to count just how long I’ve been here but I assure you, my time here has been rather long. But that’s something to speak of another day. What kind of books were you looking for in particular about what worlds? “

“Mainly just history I guess,” Karen said, “They’re so many people from so many worlds, I’m just hoping just starting at random would be a good place to start.”

くコ:彡 — SECTOR ONE was even a mystery to long-time citizens of the Hive, but it was absolute hell for a newcomer. She’d heard that there was somewhere good for finding paintball guns, which she figured would be a good starting point to replace her Charger. The problem, however, lay in how long it took her to find the shop.

The Inkling wasted no time in running to it as soon as the sign came into view, but the minute ticked over and the shop just… disappeared. Poof, into thin air.

Karen was walking along when she came across a very obviously frustrated squid person...

“Eh,” Karen thought, “Not the strangest being I’ve seen.”

Considering this was Sector 001 and its tendency to change its layout...

“Whoa there,” Karen said, “Let me guess, you just found a store and missed it just like that didn’t you.”

She’s not gonna lie, the feeling was mutual.

“Are you sure?” Karen asked, “You look like you need water or something. We’re just a couple blocks away from apartment complex in this sector. If you live in this sector, I’ll take you there if you want.”

Karen didn’t like the look of his condition and she understood why he sorta snapped. He was obviously frustrated about being here.

(♒☂) I need water, but I’m pretty sure it’s not the way she thinks I do.

Maybe he was just overly frustrated, but he highly doubted this girl understood what it was he actually needed. Though he guessed he could follow her as far as the apartment complex. It was a bit of an emergency…. So he needed to do what he could to hydrate his ena. 

(♒☂) “Fine, I’ll come with you. Before we go though… Do you know if there’s a place in this city that sells sea salt?”

It was pretty common where he was from. In Oshiooshi it could be used for cooking, as well as for ocean dwellers to mix with water for ena hydration. It was a vital necessity and all over the place. He seemed like the only ocean-dweller who really needed it in this city, though. He couldn’t be sure that the place had it. 

(♒☂) “I want to grab some before heading to the apartments.”

“I think so,” Karen said, “Good thing this district is known as the cultural district. Maybe there’s a supermarket or even a specialty store for specific delicacies that might have it.”

Karen realizes that it might be a stretch to find such a store, but the chances of finding sea salt in a supermarket might be a stretch, considering how popular it can be sometimes, despite being on the pricey side. Who knows, maybe they could be lucky.

Lyra Belacqua from the His Dark Materials series aka The Golden Compass series. The reason I would like to interact with Lyra is because in the trilogy, she ends up traveling between worlds, as she and a boy she meets becomes the starting points of an interdimensional war.

With that being said, I’d like to think that they have bumped into each other at one point, but never fully interacted.

(♒☂) “Okay definitely isn’t the word I’d use.”

Okay. maybe he was being a tad too hostile. Maybe he should pull it back some. He just wasn’t happy being away from his friends. A lot of things had already changed for him back home, let alone being whisked away to a completely unknown city. Maybe he just needed to calm down a bit – that might help. Well, his next words were definitely less hostile than the last – but not really by much. 

(♒☂) “I’m just lost. I’m new here, or whatever.”

Honestly, that much was probably obvious. He probably didn’t exactly seem like someone who’d been in Citta for a long time, all things considered. Still, frustrated and a bit panicked, he just said the first thing that came to his mind. He’d probably regret it later, but honestly Hikari was too worried about finding the apartment he was staying in and a source of salt water as quickly as possible to worry about being short with people. This girl would have to deal with it.

He was already lost. He’d just gotten pulled into this damned city and he was already lost. This was boding well, wasn’t it? Ocean blue eyes were already showing his irritation as he walked around aimlessly within Sector Four, where the apartment he lived in was supposed to be. On the bright side – he wasn’t the weirdest or most out of place person there, anyway. Not that he still didn’t try to hide the shine of his ena every now and then when he thought people were staring – it was unnerving, okay!?

Still… He was getting worried. He needed to find some way to access salt water while he was stuck there or this whole situation was going to go even further downhill quickly. Being away from home was bad enough. Just as he was getting used to the change from waking up after his hibernation, he had to be whisked away to this place! It was irritating to say the least. If he didn’t have a solid source of salt water on top of it – well he didn’t want to think about it. He had to find some before his ena started drying, but he wasn’t exactly going to be able to if he stayed this lost. 

(♒☂) “Damnit, this isn’t good…”

It really wasn’t looking up for him at this point. Exhausted from all the walking, he pretty much collapsed into a sitting position on the side of the road. Honestly, he’d rather be back in Oshiooshi with the others, no matter how much everything had changed, than be here where he knew practically no one. What the hell was he supposed to do!? He held his arm up towards the sun, his ena reflecting the light of the sun as he just stared for a moment. It wouldn’t be long now…
