Lumiose City Pursuit!!

Funny how a dragon type pokemon rampaging in a city was a big plot point in Team Plasma's villain arc and then it happens again at the beginning of XY, but it is not related to any overarching plot. Both pokemon were being affected by a device designed to control them, by an evil group. Although in the case of Garchomp it was just goofy Team Rocket and they got blasted off, so not exactly the same kind of villains, but still...

Both use hyper beam and destroy city property.

In the case of Haxorus many more buildings were hit because it was being controlled by Team Plasma the entire time. Garchomp wasn't being commanded by anyone, so its attacks weren't necessarily directed at anyone. It was left to rampage on its own after it blasted Team Rocket.

In both situations a selfless character risks its well being in hopes of rescuing the pokemon.

In Unova, officer Jenny has already evacuated the entire city. Meanwhile in Kalos they are telling people to evacuate the area. Of course, the difference is that when Ash & Co arrived in that Unova city, the rampaging had already been going on for a while, in Lumiose they were there when it started.

I like how in the case of Lumiose City the news anchors flew in to cover the situation. For some reason nobody thought of doing the same in Unova and in retrospect I wish they had, so they could amplify how much of a threat Team Plasma was supposed to be.

A Restoration Confrontation!

I liked the idea of going back into the past to capture rare pokemon. It was nice to see a piece of the ancient past. I'm honestly surprised that we haven't gotten an evil team who's main goal involves time travel for some nefarious purpose. What if one evil team wants to go back in time to rewrite history and start civilization all over? Or a mislead organization that brings flora & fauna from the past, but it spirals out of control and causes a huge disaster in the present.

I love this soundtrack so much! I wish it had been used more. There's just something special about it when I hear it, I'm not sure how to describe it. It has this early mystery Unova feeling to it.

i still feel like team rocket was intended to be the "black" to team plasma's "white" originally. team rocket's use of pokémon as weapons/batteries is accentuated in BW and it's common for giovanni to be like "all pokémon exist for team rocket" (not to mention the switch to black uniforms). they would have provided a really good foil to a BW1 team plasma whose goal is to "liberate" pokémon.

This is one of my favorite things to think about when it comes to the BW anime. Here's to hope that in the future they come up with another version of it (involving other villains teams ig).

Something odd from the Best Wishes series that I noticed - the interior of Giovanni's VTOL seem to have been completely redesigned when he returned to Unova for Operation Tempest compared to when he first came to Unova for the Meteonite mission.

The first time around, the walls are green and the chair he's sitting in is a cushy oval-shaped one where he can rest his arms and doesn't even need to wear a seatbealt. This sort of chair seems like a much closer match to what you'd see inside an actual VTOL aircraft.

But the second time around, the walls are blue and he's strapped into a chair that looks like what you'd see in a typical airline plane.

So what happened? Either the storyboard artists and animators for BW99 forgot how the inside of the jet was supposed to look like, or what we saw Giovanni in before was the very back of the jet, the more spacious and luxurious part he's used to sitting in while his grunts do the flying, but since he'd just been injured and Team Rocket needed to make an emergency retreat from the Abyssal Temple, he had to sit in the very front right next to Dr. Zager (who would be piloting the plane himself since he knows how to fly aircrafts) and behind the TRio. Which is very much the opposite of how we saw he prefered his seating in just the previous episode.

So in a way, him having to sit up where his grunts normally would is a testament to just how utterly defeated he was on that day.

Decided to add some Team Plasma grunts injured when Reshiram burned down N's castle. This is just an idea on how I picture these scenes if the show was a little more explicit lol.

I think the episode Secrets from out of the fog would've been a good moment to introduce Team Plasma members who were loyal to N after he decided to split from the others. I picture them helping keep the pokemon safe, helping heal the wounded pokemon and talking about how they didn't agree with Ghetsis views.

Lost Team Plasma admin. With the cancellation of the Team Rocket vs Team Plasma two partner we never got see this character debut in the anime. It seems his role was given to Aldith. My conspiracy theory is that he left Team Plasma after Ghetsis liberation facade fell off.

Pachirisu Core! I decided to make a stimboard! All of the stimboards I've been seeing around opened something in my brain that I didn't know I needed.
