I am an Elder Millennial, and while I never learned how to torrent, I have been using piracy film sites since I was in college, and I still use them as an old hag.
Note that piracy streaming sites will go down periodically but the general name will STAY so people can find the new URL again. So don't get attached to https addresses but rather always remember the site name: 123movies, Putlocker, Yesmovies, okru, etc. Internet Archive can also be useful.
Protips if you have never pirated: 1. Install a good adblocker, or several. (Note, sometimes these will interfere with legal streaming sites so you will have to adjust the settings depending on what site you are). 2. Go to Electronic Frontier Foundation website. They work on protecting internet privacy and other measures and they have lots of good free apps on how not to be tracked online.
3. Get rid of google chrome/safari. Get rid of google/bing search engine. Use Firefox instead, and use DUCKDUCKGO or ECOSIA as your search engines. Firefox is big on internet privacy and so are those search engines. Yes, it will take some adjustment, but you will not regret it.
Last but not least, yes, I do use some free legal steaming websites and some paid ones. I also use Kanopy and Hoopla to support my local library and keep my card active. (Kanopy is deeply underrated. It has some good stuff on there for cinemaphiles.) But it is ALWAYS good to know how deep search a film that might not be on any of those sites because somebody somewhere will have uploaded it online. And, yes, there is some genuine lost media. (RIP "Drinking Crude" we will never see what Baby! Colin Farrell and younger Andrew Scott were doing together in a film, but I'll stay hoping somebody turns up a copy one day.) But most media is NOT lost, just hard to find, and it can be found if you are willing to put in a little extra work to find it.
