The stranger things scene give me bad buddy flashbacks
Honestly thay was what i tought was going to happen with PatPran when he said "no" to the friends question
Just to have the best kiss in history, but honestly
YES! Thank you! That's literally all I could think about.
It's always lingering in the back of my mind that Ravi had cancer as a child and Buck was born to save a child with cancer and I just think "god, I hope they pick that up at some point again."
There is just so much potential in the dynamic of Ravi "literal child cancer patient" and Buck "born to save his brother who was a child cancer patient".
The tension, the angst, but also the comfort and the potential healing that could come out of that.
Combine that with the recent developments of their relationship and it's got all the ingredients for an amazing emotional arc with a lot of points for breaking and building characters, relationships and growth.
And then there's the fact that Ravi wasn't there when buck learned about Daniel and Buck wasn't there when Ravi revealed his childhood cancer. It lends itself perfectly for a set up for a storyline like that.
I'm begging for them to remember that they have that.
@911s-bravest-soldier you!! you get it! This would hit so hard!!

also i wanna say that chris kind of dad-trapped buck too bc he took one look at that 6'2 teddy bear and went yup that's my buck, dad we're keeping him
the three of them trapped each other and i think that's beautiful
Listen, was I disappointed in how they ended lone star?
Absolutely.
They put in way too many storylines for them to be able to actually satisfyingly resolve, but at least they actually fucking resolved them.
“We killed Bobby off for realism”
The newest episode had a girl breathing fire and the water in LA becoming fire.
But yeah, super realistic and relatable!
i really think that 911’s main problem right now is the fact that they’re losing what used to be an exquisite balance between a silly goofy emergency show, a big emergency show and a soap opera show. i guess it’s both on tim and on abc but now that we’re clearly set on rebranding as a mostly big emergency show, it’s almost like they’re convinced they can get away with half-assing every single thing about the emotional layer of the show, the one thing that really used to anchor its audience. and the sad thing is… they can. unless someone wakes up and puts things back on course, i think they can totally get away with four or five two-parter massive emergencies per season which are going to bring them substantial views and keep the audience alive. then the silly goofy layer will get even goofier. and the character plot lines, any sort of emotional development, becomes completely secondary. the way it usually is in an actual full blown procedural show, which 911 didn’t use to be but it’s whatever
911, a masterclass on how to expertly avoid every single set up you've made in the 17 episodes prior
okay. it’s not even about like whether or not buddie happened. it’s actually the fact that they literally spent SO much time this season focusing on buck and eddie’s relationship to the detriment of BOTH of them having coherent and developed storylines—cannot overstate that buck had NO STORYLINE this season except to be weird about eddie and eddie had TOO MUCH texas storyline that ultimately led nowhere—and then. didn’t follow through even ON THEIR RELATIONSHIP? EVEN THEIR PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP? i said this before but “buck misses his best friend” is not. A PLOT. okay.
and this isn’t even touching the fact that. um. basically none of the characters did anything this season that led to anything for them because they were all these choppy self-contained one-offs—bobby? hotshots, then his mom showed up, then he died of ratpox. hen? brief confrontation with ortiz, denny nde with no consequences, everyone forgot her birthday, she decided she didn’t want to be captain. maddie? world’s shortest pregnancy and also kidnapped but she’s over it now. chimney? maddie’s short pregnancy and kidnapping and then bobby died and he was set up to become captain (WITH NO FOCUS ON HIS LEADERSHIP PRIOR???😭). athena? beenado plane crash, sparky the rookie, cart cop, then bobby died. buck and eddie are the only characters who actually had anything consistent happening across the season and it didn’t even end up being resolved. season 8 is watchable and in isolation most episodes are enjoyable for what they are but as a whole it’s disorganized and inconsistent and the storytelling is unsatisfying and that Sucks .
At this point it feels like the story is driven by what the writers want and not by the story itself.
I mean obviously a story is always driven by the writers, they are the ones writing it, but my point is it shouldn't feel like they are writing it.
There has to be motivation, build up behind actions.
And the audience has to know that motivation. Or if they don't know it directly, it still has to feel like the character has one and they just aren't ready to reveal it yet/the audience is just not clued in yet.
For the world they live in to feel real, for the story they live to feel real, it can't feel like outside forces are making decisions for them.
But that's exactly what it feels like for me now.
They feel like puppets being paraded around, not real people making real decisions based on their characters and experiences.
Honestly the whole dropped storylines thing this season reminds me of something they taught us about plot twists in uni: if you're only gonna have a plot twist for plot twists sake/just so you can outsmart the audience, then it's always gonna suck.
Because it basically laughs in the face of people paying attention.
"oh you noticed what we put out there, put the pieces together in the right order and came to the logical conclusion? Well guess what? You're an idiot."
That's exactly what all the dropped storylines/switching up last minute feel like.
Like a slap in the face for paying attention, for caring.
