“You have to decide who you are and force the world to deal with you, not with its idea of you.”
James Baldwin.
third base is me asking if you hate me
sometimes you hear something - for me this significantly pertains to songs- and you can’t help but feel completely displaced from where you currently are. the sound, the texture, the feel, the body of this tiny moment creates a vessel that you can’t help but enter. You pass through memories you could never remember, places you never met, faces you’ve never seen, days you didn’t live, time that wasn’t yours, it all invades your current state- nothing else matters- you’re stuck in this sound, this moment, and it repeats until every feeling and thought has been explored and placed where you need it to be placed. you want to go back to not being this lost in something but you can’t. it’s cathartic and the only thing you can do is release. in the form of tears. in the form of words. in the shape of dance. in a look. in potentially sharing.
Ive tried to divorce myself from feeling this invaded and elated, but who am I kidding
Saãda Bonaire, 1984
Haven’t written in a long time. I’ve held a lot in for such a long time, so I’m here again to release some stuff. Just to lay it down somewhere with the intention of partially being heard, but also just getting it out there.
I’m looking for a person who understands my language and speaks it. A person who, without being a pariah, will question not only the rights and the value of the marginalized, but also those of the people who claim to be normal.
