Birth, life, death, rebirth.
This cycle is associated with the yew tree, which is where I believe Yorshka gets her name. Her name is roughly a Russian diminutive (the -shka ending), and it appears that her name is derived from the Gaelic name York.
I like using the Russian word for cat as an example for this, because it follows the same construction.
Кот (kot) becomes Кошка (koshka). The "t" is dropped, and the -shka is added.
Drop the "k" on York, add -shka, and you have Yorshka.
Gwyndolin's association with trees through his alter ego Quella (the "spirit tree" that protects his followers) plays into this symbolism and why I'm convinced of its “accuracy.”
The yew tree is sometimes referred to as the Tree of Resurrection or the Tree of Eternity. If you look at Yorshka's own purpose in that way, then perhaps Gwyndolin, who named her, understood the cycle of light and dark a little better than most - maybe even better than his own father. :D
(A quick search for yew tree symbolism will give you a more comprehensive look at the details I've worked with. You don't have to believe the theory I've come up with. I just wanted to reveal a bit about my thought process so that you understand what's going on in this piece.)
