This is the third week of my “Best of Tumblr” series! If you haven’t already, you can see Part 1 & Part 2 of Photographers from the last two weeks for some recommendations. This week I’m sharing some of the finest blogs on Tumblr dedicated to art. These blogs have been great sources of...

Using nothing more than a pencil to create optical illusions on paper -- amazing.

Pretty amazing.
Crochet Playgrounds by Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam
In the mid 1990s Japanese artist Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam was showing a large scale crochet artwork at an art gallery when two rambunctious children approached her and asked if the sculpture, resembling a colorful hammock, could be climbed on.

While walking in the Chicago neighbourhood of Logan Square Christopher of Colossal happened upon an enormous stack of Monopoly ‘Chance’ cards. After some diligent sleuthing he figured out that the cards were part of an awesome interactive street art installation by an artist/art collective known as Bored, who described their motivation behind this delightful project:
“the goal of this entire project has been to present something different than a stencil painted on the ground or a poster pasted to a wall. Something 3-dimensional that can be picked up, beaten down, kicked, yanked, grabbed, and broken. And if someone ever put forth the effort to remove it, like a weed it will always grow back. And if left alone it will evolve into something different.”

This is awesome.
Sleek unusual lighting At Your Command by Singapore-based designer Daniel Loves Objects, who has taken form and design to a new level. This golden human-shaped lamp is not only aesthetically provoking, it is poseable. As in you can move its joint to a pose you desire. Brilliant!
It would be nice if something made sense for a change
The poster features the complete original text and etchings from the timeless children’s classic Alice’s Adventures n Wonderland. The overprinted quote comes from Disney’s reinvention of the tale that justly appraises the entirety of the story, but further is a sound statement encapsulating our time. “I just wish something would make sense for a change.”
26 x 38 ins. Printed offset by our friends at Classic Color on Sappi McCoy.
Just need to give a shout out...
