thinking about iris messages and how you need both a name and a location to send them.
the hunt is constantly on the move. their camps are set up and dismantled quickly. without knowing exactly when and where they will be (which would be rather difficult to pull off, bc i'm guessing they don't really have a plan most of the time...), it would be pretty much impossible for anyone from the outside to contact them.
so if any of the huntresses wanted to keep in contact with someone on the outside, they'd have to be the ones to initiate it most (if not all) of the time.
if bianca lived, how often do you think she would've called nico? did she consider this at all, after she joined the hunt? would she be worried about how nico is acclimating, or would she get so lost in her newfound freedom that she would simply... forget to check in, for some time? days fly by so quickly when you're immortal, after all. she could brush off the guilt gnawing at the back of her mind, convincing herself that he'll be fine, that he's probably having fun playing hero with the other kids. meanwhile he'd be wondering what he had done to make his sister hate him so much. that must be it, right? obviously, his big sister had to hate him. why else would she leave him so quickly, without hesitation? why else would she not make any effort to contact him for weeks or months on end?
would nico try to call her, after an older camper explained iris messages to him, and realize that he had no idea where she was right now? then he'd sit there, realizing how truly alone he is.
how often did jason and thalia talk, before he died? did she call him whenever she could, excited to have him back? or did she get so used to thought that he's dead, that she rarely remembered to, and then felt guilty?
how often did jason want to call thalia and tell her about his day or about all the things that had happened to him, only to remember that he can't? desperate to hold on to the last semblance of family he had, but ultimately unable to do anything without her initiating it?
