“They finally taught us our ABCs in kindergarten today,” Ricky said with the slightest hint of humour in his tone. Ricky put paper down to his side and scooted over to make space for his sister on the concrete steps. Crossing his arms over his chest, he couldn’t help but stare at Amara. “What’d you do last night? You look like shit,” he laughed, a bit too rudely.
“Kindergarten’s a concept for bourgeois fucks with money, Ricky,” she said then, taking a seat next to him on the steps. Leaning her head against his shoulder, she let out a small sigh. “Well, if there’s one thing you’ve taught me, it’s that if you don’t want someone to scold you, you don’t tell them about your wrongdoings. What’s got you out on these steps, anyway?”
