Nova would have given up if she hadnāt needed to go to the bathroom so desperately. She felt stupid just standing there, helpless and anxious, until a stranger moved the womanās arm out of the way and took her hand. She stood frozen for a moment, then made her way into the bathrooms, solely because she had to.Ā āT-Thank you,ā She muttered, the only thing she managed before she hurried into a stall.
When she got out, there was a slight feeling of relief. The woman seemed to be gone and the kind stranger was still there. Nova made sure to quickly wash her hands before she accepted the tissue, sending the brunette a shy smile. She knew she would be in a completely different state as soon as sheād be home; where she had the privacy to allow her emotions to take over. As long as Dallas wasnāt there to see it, of course.
āItāsā Itās okay,ā She said quietly.Ā āIām sorry you had to see that. Itāsā I usually donāt go to public bathrooms. I can never figure out which one to go to and⦠well, I think either choice would have been the same, really. Um⦠usually women are a bit less⦠direct about it.ā
Nodding her head, the dark haired girl leaned on the sink. She used to be shy -- as Nova seemed, steering away from situations like that and not even standing up for herself. But she developed over the years, and to see someone so blatantly bullied right in front of her?Ā āIt would be inhumane to accept your apology -- that wasnāt your fault.ā She told the other as she leaned her head to the side slightly.Ā
She knew that times were so much different than they used to be, and people were plain mean, not willing to accept individuality. Her older sister was gay and had half of her head shaved, she was constantly being called names.Ā āYou shouldnāt have to identify yourself as something just to have to take a pee.ā She mentioned,Ā āI donāt mean to be forward -- I know -- that probably worked you up and I just want to tell you that youāre beautiful.ā Amaya gave another smile, still feeling like punching that woman that left.Ā
āIām Amaya,ā she introduced, slinging her bag over her shoulder,Ā āAre you here with anyone? Do you want to have a coffee with me? This sounds pathetic but my only friends are online and I would love to make your night a little better.ā She gave a hopeful look, her arms extending out as if to sweeten the offer before she was opening the door for Nova.
