Lincoln grinned at the reaction of her friend as he picked her up off the ground. She was smiling so much she could feel her cheeks starting to burn. She adored Al and his hugs. They had known each other for so long, but over the last few years became closer and closer, so much so that whenever he was in New York she was almost joined at the hip with him. He was such a good and kind person, he always made her laugh and seemed to have her back no matter what. This was a bit of a rare find for Lincoln who tended to be a fairly shy and quiet girl. But Al always seemed to bring out a warmth in her she never seemed to get sick of, he was kind of like her partner in crime, and surely a much needed one at that.
“I transfered to UCLA!” She explained as he twirled her around. She kicked her feet a bit before her set her down and squished her plump cheeks to make her face look like a chipmunk. She grumbled as she looked up at him. “I missed you too, and I wanted to surprise you.” Lincoln explained before he pulled her back against his chest. He hugged her so tight and she melted against him. She pressed her cheek against his shoulder as her arms wrapped around to pat his back. “If you are upset about the surprise you know I could just pack all my stuff back up.” She laughed softly pulling back to look up at him. “Always got options.”
It was really funny for Al to think about the first time he’d met Lincoln now. If memory served, she’d come into work with her father one day when she’d been about fourteen or so, and she was not very thrilled about it all. It had been kind of funny to him at the time. He’d picked on her playfully the whole time, earning some laughs from her dad and some irritated looks from the teenager. It was seven years down the road, and now Al could barely remember a time where Lincoln wasn’t his best friend. The periods of time he spent in New York went by way, way too quickly, and the possibility of just hanging around for longer always crossed his mind when it was coming to an end. He justified it as liking his New York office so much and wanting to work with his artists out there and yeah, that was totally true. But Lincoln made it a home for him. That was always pretty hard to leave.
“No you didn’t. No you didn’t, Lincoln. You’re serious?!” Al’s face lit up, his already wide eyes growing like saucers as he gazed down at her. “So you’re - you’re here? You’re actually here? Holy shit.” He laughed, purely from joy, and gave the tiny girl one more tight squeeze before letting go of her. “I’m very upset, and even more so that you’d even joke about something like that, but I’m not gonna scold you for it right now. Later, definitely, but I’m too excited. We’re going to get food. And, and to the Hollywood sign and Disneyland and Santa Monica pier - I hope you didn’t have other plans tonight, because we’re gonna pack in as much of Los Angeles as we possibly can. There’s so much shit I’ve been waiting to show you out here.” His hand grabbed hers in order to pull her through his front door so he could get ready all the way, and his voice raised a few octaves to call out to his dogs. “Puppies, come look who’s here!” Bowser and Red Sox came bounding out of his room at the familiar call, but sprinted to Lincoln, barking loudly, once they clocked her on the other side of the room. “How long have you been in town? Or should I say how long have you been lying to me and profiting off my sorrow?”
