Robbie could feel the rumble of the big footsteps through the seat as the Rhino approached. Oh damn.. He looked up as saw the behemoth barreling toward him down the side of the street. Robbie quickly stopped the clutch, threw the car in reverse, and floored the accelerator. The slick tires spun for a moment, but finally hooked and yanked them back just out of reach of the Rhino. The tires continued to smoke as the chase continued, Spinning every now and then on the uneven terrain of the sidewalk and the asphalt and the low reverse gear. Fire sputtered from the blower and pipes as the engine bounced on the redline.
"Back off ugly. You’re not catching this car…"
Wowzer, that guy really cares about his fancy pants car. He'd rather speed around with the Rhino then ditch the thing. That means I need to take the big lug out before he tramples the guy. Peter curled his fingers, firing two web lines at the Rhino's back. "Tally-ho!" He was suddenly whipped into the air, trailing behind the lumbering giant. With a quick tug on the webbing his catapulted himself forward, moving his legs in front of him, and kicked hard at Rhino's back. The villain stumbled, and Peter took advantage of the split second window to hop backward, firing a massive amount of webbing at Rhino's feet. The massive man toppled forward, falling flat on his face.
Peter looked up, shouting toward the young man tearing backward in his car. "You just got scary close to becoming a pancake, man!"
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: Gwen and Peter
Gwen was startled by the sudden change in scene, but she recognised it fairly quickly as that of Peter’s Aunt and Uncle’s kitchen. It looked like whichever setting was on Peter’s mind would be where they went next. Moments from his past coming to the surface.
They seemed to be in a memory Peter had of a breakfast time with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. And if his glasses were anything to go by it looked like it was before he got his Spider powers. As soon as he mentioned the Science trip Gwen guessed that was why he remembered the breakfast scene from that day. If it was the Science trip, then today would be the day that Peter had got bitten and gained his powers. Gwen was finding the whole experience confusing. Peter didn’t remember that was today, and Gwen herself hadn’t know about Peter’s powers while she was alive. She hadn’t known how Peter had gotten his powers. It must mean that on some level Peter still remembered; it was the only reason that made sense as to how Gwen knew all of this. Gwen knew this through locked memories of Peter’s. She was here to give them back to him.
Hear heart grew heavy as the scene changed again and Peter started to ask her about his Uncle. She didn’t need Peter’s memories for that. She had know how Uncle Ben had dies and how sad it had made Peter after. However, the memories explained the guilt tinted grief that Peter had always held. This was why he thought it had been his fault.
She didn’t know how to tell him.
"Something did happen, Pete. But…it wasn’t anything you did. You couldn’t have known." She paused, wondering if she could out and out lie to him, saying that Spider-Man had nothing to do with his Uncle’s death. But, taking in how he was now, looking at her with trust to tell him the truth about himself, she knew she couldn’t do that. She never could lie to Peter.
"When you first had the Spider powers you saw that man steal the money. You let him get away. After he got away he shot your Uncle. Nobody could save him." She said all this very quietly, keeping eye contact with Peter. She didn’t know how he would react. "I hope you do remember me, you meant so much to me."
That was a lie. He had meant everything to her.
Peter's brow furrowed and his hands went up to the sides of his face. The serene breakfast scene around him trembled, and his Uncle's smiling face began to fade. Peter reached his hand out toward the man who had meant so much to him, and as Ben Parker vanished, a small spider materialized on Peter's outstretched hand. Its fangs clamped down on his flesh, and the memories swirling around him suddenly became a fragmented mosaic of scenes. Glimpses of heroes and villains, friends and bullies. A sequence of events that began with a spider and spiraled out of control. He shook his head, clamping his eyes shut. This was his mind, though. Nothing he did could stop him from seeing the events his psyche was uncovering. All of the mistakes.
"I take it back, I don't want this! I don't want to remember that I caused these people pain." He could see his aunt and uncle, friends whose names he couldn't quite recall. Loved ones who glared at him with cold eyes. He had had no idea how many people he had hurt in his lifetime. The fragmented scenes began to crack slightly, like panes of fragile glass.
"I can start over. I can be someone else. I don't need to remember these things." The scenes began to crack and crumble further. He had finally begun to piece together a timeline of his life, and now he was seeing to it that the dots remained disconnected. In his anxiety he was pushing everything away. Something flashed in the corner of his vision, even with his eyes closed tightly. He turned to a scene that was just beginning to crack apart. It was him, Peter Parker, standing with the blonde girl who seemed to know so much about him. He was holding her in his arms, his dark eyes fixed on her. He looked utterly content, in that moment.
It was then that he remembered her name. "Gwen." He looked to the girl standing near him, a smile spreading across his face. He remembered nothing about her but that moment, and that was enough. He knew he had loved her deeply.

"I was just swinging by on my way to see RoboCop, and it looked like you guys could use a hand!" Peter lifted the second police cruiser off of the one it was crushing, reaching in to snap seatbelts off and pull the trapped officers out onto the asphalt. "It's cool though, I'll catch the late showing." He spun around, his eyes scanning quickly for Rhino. Oh great. Now he's playing tag with the first muscle car he could find. He hopped up onto the nearest vehicle, using the lines of halted cars like stepping stones as he raced toward the mayhem. He leapt from the back of a pickup truck, catapulting himself at the back of the Rhino.
"You're it!" He pulled a gloved fist back, punching the hulking criminal in the back of the head. "No tag backs!"
The Rhino staggered slightly, nearly tripping over his own feet, before catching his stride and continuing his barreling attack. Well that did a lot of good...
"Your name is Gwen Stacy. Mine is Peter Parker. This is the story of how we fell in love."
||Sometimes I remember Sins Past is a canon thing and I just become irritated for like, an hour or so.
"Ditch this car? No way, man. That’s not happening.” He watched as the two cop cars got flipped on top of a few others. Damn, whatever’s wrecking the place up ahead is big.
"I’ll think about it…" Robbie lied. If Spiderman thought he’d rather just sit here and get crushed, he’d probably pry him out of the car just to save him. That is, if the rumors were true…
Robbie watched as Spiderman jumped from the car and swung away toward the action. Hoping to avoid getting involved, he tried to pull the car out of the lane and onto the sidewalk. It just barely fit and allowed him to squeak by the traffic jam.
"Born a misfit in a family of unicorns, this goof turned to a life of criminal activity!" Peter shouted as he swooped over the halted vehicles. "Deep down, beneath that rough and downright ugly exterior, though, is a heart of..well, more ugliness!" His statements were answered almost immediately by a massive roar, followed by another police car being thrown straight at his face. Peter fired two netted webs out of his newly replenished cartridges, catching the car in mid air, and swooped down to the ground.
I need to get these other officers out of their cars. The cruisers Rhino had flipped were giving off alarming creaking noises, about to collapse further into each other. He strained against one of the cars, lifting it off of the one beneath it.
"It's useless, bug! I'm just gonna keep on trashin' this place!" In Peter's distraction, Rhino took off down the side of the road, smashing windows on buildings and punching halted cars.
"Whoa! The hell?" Robbie looked around for the source of the thud that had rocked his car. When a red web-styled mask peered into the windshield from the roof, he got his answer.
"Uh, okay." He responded, confused as to what exactly was going on. "As long as you’re not leaking fluids on my roof, that’s cool." He recognized the mask as belonging to the famous Spiderman, but coming from the west coast he’d not had much exposure to him in person.
"Leaking wha-oh, gotcha." He peeled back the webbed sleeve of his costume, revealing the shining silver wristband of his webshooter. He popped a few new cartridges onto each wrist, before pulling his sleeves back down. "Word of advice, kid. You might want to ditch the car and start running in the other direction. If things get a bit hairy here-" His words were interrupted by a massive crash, followed by the shrill sound of screams. "Scratch that. When things get hairy." The Rhino had just flipped two of the police cruisers onto two others, trapping the officers inside their damaged vehicles.
"Aw man, he couldn't have waited five more minutes to start rampaging?!" Peter leapt into the air, firing a web line toward the nearest street light and swinging toward the action.

Robbie had finally made enough money at the shop to take some time off, and what better way to spend it than a cross country drive to NY. And why not? School was out, the shop was closed due to renovation from the last gang fight that had spilled over, and it was better than hanging around that poisonous neighborhood and watch cops chase drug dealers.
No, New York was better. It had sights, sounds, music, the EDC….. AND GODAWFUL TRAFFIC.
"I should have thought this out more…"
Tugging hard on a thin strand of webbing, Peter pulled himself up in an arch over a traffic light. Looks like traffic's being halted because of Rhino. Man, I thought he was the one zoo-animal-themed bad guy I didn't have to worry about anymore. What is with the animal themes anyway?...says the guy with a spider on his chest. I retract my previous statement. He peered ahead of him, toward the bright police lights in a row. The officers had formed a road block in an attempt to keep citizens away from the mayhem the armored villain was causing.
Peter landed with a thud on top of a black Charger, crouched low. The beeping sounding from his wrists meant he needed to change his web cartridges before hopping into the action. He peeked down through the windshield of the car, spying a young kid at the wheel. "Don't mind me, just making a pit stop!"

He didn’t remember her. She didn’t know why this hurt her so much. She was a part of Peter’s memories. How was she even feeling anything at all? But it did. It hurt her. It jolted her like a physical to blow. He said he felt something, and she was here, wasn’t she? so he must remember her on some plain. She tried to laugh it off, feeling it may not have been entirely successful, “So, you don’t know who I am, huh?” She looked at her feet taking a quick gulp of air, looking back up she managed to keep her voice fairly steady, “Yes, you were a Biophysics Major. You were very good. We got quite competitive sometimes. My name’s Gwen Stacy. I studied here with you, but my major was Biochemistry. We were…close, I guess you could say.”
She walked slowly towards him at the back of the classroom grabbing a stool and pulling it up so she was facing him from across the bench that was scattered with open books. She couldn’t help herself. She had to check, after all, Peter had always joked around. She doubted he would ever joke about this but…”You don’t remember me at all?” She paused. Maybe it was just her. Maybe she remembered some of the others.
"What about Flash? Flash Thompson? Harry Osborn? MJ Watson? You Aunt and Uncle?" She hoped he remembered his Aunt and Uncle. She wasn’t looking forward to him finding out about her end, but seeing him lose his Uncle Ben again would hurt her much more. She knew it hadn’t been his fault, but Peter had never fully accepted that.
She had to stop herself reaching out to touch his face, a movement that used to be so natural to her. She didn’t care, she realised, that he didn’t remember her. It didn’t matter. The time she would have with him here would be short. She had to make the most of it because this was her last chance to talk to him. After this she would go back to just being a memory. She didn’t even know how she was thinking here, she was part of Peter’s psyche. She didn’t know, she didn’t care. She had this and by God, she would make the most of it. She had wanted to grow old with Peter. She never got that chance. She would take any extra time with him that she could get.
Wheatcakes.
He thought hard about this word, and focused on this memory. The girl had rattled off a few names, but something about what she said brought that word to his mind. "Wheatcakes." He repeated the word, mulling it over. Aunt May used to make them for me before school. They were my favorite. Uncle Ben used to come up from his workshop in the basement and have breakfast with us before I left. A smile crossed Peter's face as the memory played out, fuzzy at first. Soon the picture came into focus, and he found himself no longer sitting in the lab at ESU. He could feel the polished wood of the dining room table under his hands. Aunt May sat to his right, and Uncle Ben sat with a smile on his face to Peter's left. Gwen Stacy, the mysterious girl from the school, was placed at the other end of the table.
"I remember them. My Aunt and Uncle. I was supposed to go on a field trip today...a science presentation...about...hmm. About something. Uncle Ben made a joke about out-wrestling me...and he had this great smile...I remember his smile. And he..." The scene suddenly changed, and the two of them were standing in a dimly lit hallway. A blonde man with a bag of money bolted past them and out of site. "I did something to him. To Uncle Ben. Something bad." The memory faded, and Peter was back in the kitchen, a stack of wheatcakes in front of him. A fogginess began to distort his view, and for a moment he thought he was losing this memory again. He quickly realized the round pair of eyeglasses he was wearing had begun to fog up as tears welled in his eyes.
He turned to Gwen, lifting his glasses slightly and wiping his eyes. "You said we were close...do you know what happened? Do you know what I did?" She had to have been someone extremely close to him, to be in this position. She had obviously been on his mind so often that his subconscious had brought her here out of instinct. Why can't I remember who she is, then? Maybe he could work with her in order to remember her. "I'm sorry, I really am. I wish...I wish I could remember you. But maybe I can. Maybe you can help me work my way there..."
Oh, yeah my class left without me. I almost forgot. She thought to herself briefly sighing. “Um, right now? on my school bus back home…but my class seems to have left without me, just my luck. If I’m lucky I have enough bus tokens to get me half way back to jersey” She slightly shrugged. Ammi and Abu are going to kill me when I get home way late, if I’m lucky, or if I’m unlucky they’ll lecture me till I go completely insane.
Peter looked around for a moment, then down at the nonexistent watch on his costumed wrist. How long have we been here? Her bus couldn't have gone too far...I can't believe I'm saying this, but..."Tell you what, you can save the tokens for a day when you don't have a friendly webslinger hanging out with you. We're going to catch your bus and get you back home. If you're not too afraid of heights, that is." He tapped his wrist, where his web shooters were placed, and pointed upward. "First time's free, but next time I'm charging cab fare."
Teaching An Old Dog Old Tricks: Nightwing and Spidey
He had to smile at that. Dick knew what it was like to constantly be hungry; even on patrol, when he was running and jumping and enjoying himself.
“Sometimes I wish parkour was food,” he smiled, “But I’m afraid not.” He stood right at the edge of the rooftop. “You have to imagine you’re being chased by someone, and you can’t be caught. Which means you can’t get around your obstacles, because that would just slow you down. You have to get through them, or use them to your advantage. Use as little effort as possible and save your strength. It’s a little like free-running, but free-running’s more for show. Parkour is what gets you out of danger.”
He stretched his arms out in front of him. “Or,” he added, “We could just grab that early lunch break.”
A rumble sounded from Peter's stomach at the discussion of food, and he rubbed his stomach gingerly. Come on, Pete. Now's not the time to be thinking about cheeseburgers...and hot dogs...and...gah. He shook his head, bringing his attention back to the task at hand. "Alright, I think I've got the idea. Run, don't stop running, don't run into anything. Sounds easy enough." He closed his eyes tightly, pulling up small scraps of memories for something dangerous. Suddenly, the sight of mechanical tentacles crept into his mind, and he knew what he was running from.
"Green light!" He leapt from the ledge, swinging for a short distance on a web line, before launching himself on the next building top. He moved forward swiftly, hopping over ventilation units and equipment left by maintenance crews. His spider-sense warned him of any objects hidden in shadow, and he slid and tumbled accordingly. He peered back for just a moment, trying to catch of glimpse of Nightwing.
"I might be turning this into a race. And I might be winning at the moment!"
