i joke about it a lot but hornet and lace's in game dynamic is actually really really interesting. lace was created explicitly to be an eternal child, eternally subservient, never allowed to grow up, have a life of her own, or even have thoughts of her own. she has lived under the thumb of grand mother silk for eons and thats all she knows, and a lot of her arc (in game and presumably continuous) is about understanding the worth of her own life and desires.
and hornet is a half-pale being constantly battling her own innate desire to dominate and subjugate lesser beings. the weaver queen ending is so bad because it has hornet killing and taking the throne from gms without personally helping and understanding the people pharloom in the way the true ending does. she is in constant conflict with her own self, her own godly nature, because as violent and controlling and domineering she can be, she wants to be a better person, she wants to be someone who can let others live the way they want to live, she wants to rise above her higher being kin who caused so much suffering from their lust for power.
after sister of the void, with their weapons on the surface together, there's the implication(honestly i dont see what else could be possible other than this) that they do end up journeying in some manner together. it would be very very easy for them to fall into their original personalities and "destined" dynamics, for lace to end up once more in a role of servitude and for hornet to give in to her godly instincts with someone to control. knowing team cherry, im certain the intention is for them to subvert such an ending, whether or not itll be shown in the game(i do hope for an epilogue to allow us to see a rebuilding pharloom please let us have this team cherry i need bugs to be happy for once)
