Hi I'm Amber Rose Ezell, figurative oil painter. Being a mom with a part time job, I'm always working on prioritizing my time, and finding ways to squeeze in some art every day (like waking up at 5 AM!). I am learning how to manage my art as a business, one step at a time. The best thing that's happening for my art right now is when I am able to trust in God to guide my brush and embrace the spontaneity!

Before and after. I’m back to painting over old canvases. Emo Amber got a makeover and I think it looks much better. You can see I didn’t quite finish the before, and I think I can tell why. I don’t remember what I was going for since this isn’t what I ever looked like. As I was painting over it I realized this was one of the canvases I primed myself instead of pre primed, and now I know why I don’t do that anymore. Priming was always kind of a pain in the ass, and so I skimped on the coats. For anyone who wants to go through the paint and wait process yourself, I’d recommend at least 3 coats. The most I ever did was 2 and it’s a much tougher and more absorbent surface to paint on. Which for oil paint is bad. Aaaanyway… Thanks for reading that whole thing!

Before and after. Sometimes a canvas needs to be repainted. I have so much work I'm not going to display, like experiments that didn't work out or just unfinished paintings. It feels so good to turn them into something current.
