Ismail really likes buildings - a visual essay

So, the locations for s7 that the cinematographer has posted to instagram are interesting because of their decayed urban aesthetic.

And the thing is, Ismail really likes buildings.

The official Druck bot sends you character/pairing wallpapers if you send them specific emoji. The emoji are clearly chosen because they represent aspects of the characters. A palette for Nora, headphones for Josh, a city skyline for Spiderwitz, a dark-skinned black girl in a crow for Ava, a seedling for Mailin, a white running boy for Sporty Spice, the planet Saturn for Q2, and so on.

And yes, a building for Ismail. Emojipedia calls it a generic, high-rise office building. It has stayed his emoji both in s5-s6, and now that he got a new wallpaper for s7.

Ismail likes photographing buildings, his instagram has no less than 4 building pics.

(Look at the caption! That same high-rise office building that gets you Ismail’s wallpaper on the telegram bot!)

But there are more.

Ismail simply loves a nondescript high-rise apartment building of the kind often quickly fast-tracked so that low-income single-person households and families can access affordable housing.

What else? Oh yeah, Ismail follows architectanddesign on ig. The pictures there are more ~aesthetic though.

This is interesting because @florawelch was recently sent an anon linking to the aforementioned s7 cinematographer. It def looks like Ismail’s affinity for urban architecture will continue to feature in s7. Just a couple of the screenshots Flora took (see the rest at the link!):

What does this mean? What does this all meannnnnnnnnn??? Well, CLEARLY, Ismail will run into David Schreibner when they’re both in an urban exploration trip… I MEAN. It’s clear trans and nb characters in the Skamverse have an affinity for urban exploration (as evidenced by she/they Nora loving her rooftop)… Wait, this might not be it either. All we can say for sure is that Ismail is visually connected to architecture, both of the nondescript high rise building kind, and the abandoned building kind.

While listening to the soundtrack of s6, I was reminiscing about how kieu my kept surprising me with unexpected actions like:

1. (For me it was unexpected) calling after fatou on her way home

2. Swiping right on tinder first ( I was so over the moon for fatou when I watched that clip)

3. Making the first move by kissing fatou (that honestly felt like a fever dream to me when I first watched it)

4. Texting fatou on tinder again after she called her a stupid new year's kiss

5. Volunteering to do the presentation with fatou (I technically knew that they would do it together eventually, but I would've never expected kiey my to volunteer, I honestly thought their teacher would pair them up against their will)

6. Suggesting the museums date ( again making the first move, do we see a pattern here)

7. Actually texting fatou to make out with her in the school's toilet (again that was surprising for me that she was initiating it, but at that point I should've seen it coming)

8. Going after fatou after she ran out on the presentation to make sure she's okay and also reassure her ( I honestly thought she would've been mad at fatou, you can tell I didn't have much faith in kieu my)

9. Texting her the day after and CLIMBIMG ON A ROOF???!!! HELLO??? ( I was such in shock when I watched the episode, girl was so whipped for fatou and rightfully so) and asking her to be officially together

10. Apologising to ava (the apology itself was less surprising, because she already stated that what she did to ava was horrible, but the fact that she also apologised while she and fatou were still not on speaking is what got to me)

And this also shows how much she's grown from the beginning of s6, even s5, where she would avoid all kinds of confrontation ( I still find it kind of funny how she could be a mean girl, when she freezes when she is faced with confrontation), and how she learned to speak her mind, especially when it comes to fatou, and it also shows how layered kieu mys character is, her avoiding fatou in ep 4 doesn't contradict her past initiations, but they make even sense and were expected by us because of past conversations with fatou (her being scared to talk to girls for example)

So what I'm trying to say is that kieu my is really the best written character IMO, because of her multiple layers that were shown in s6 of druck
