I decided to try something new on my personal guitar. It's a heavily modified Gibson SG from 2011 that started its life with chrome hardware, but has since then been replaced for gold. The Dirty Fingers™ pickups were exposed pickups, and didn't really fit in with the rest of the look, so I decided to buy some gold pickup covers for it, and it really did make it look better!
Here is how it looked before
Now the guitar has a much better composition, if you want to get technical with it 😆
Dyeing some leather with a stain i originally made for wood. It's made by dissolving iron in acid, in my case I put steel wool and some old nails in a jar of vinegar, and let it sit for some weeks. But in reality it would be ready within 24 hours.
The stain is often called vinegaroon.
Practical chemistry!

Cleaning a fretboard
Now the thin black lines need another layer, and then it will be time to install a grip, and secure the edges
Almost done
Getting further and further.
Making a shield for a friend
Almost done with the re-paint of this heater shield.
Before and after oiling the fretboard
Fixing up this old German Höfner acoustic guitar. It needs a little fix for the bow on the neck, some urgent fretboard care, some glue under the bridge, and ofc new strings.
The bridge has started to give away after years of being strung.
Guess I'm also on Tumblr now...
I'm a historical reenactor and a craftsman with a passion for music and history. I make everything from training swords to guitars. I'm running a startup business on the side where I sell many of my projects via Etsy. I will be posting occasional sneak peeks from the workshop, and probably also pictures and videos from Reenactment events. I will be looking forward to the response from this seemingly very creative platform. Yipeeeee!
