pride month had always been a favorite of ainsley’s— she’d never been the sort of person to shy away from being open about her sexuality and any excuse to party with like-minded people was always one she was happy to take. granted, that was her demeanor when she was in a better state— and if she’d been able to observe herself from afar she was fairly positive she’d be alarmed by the despondent look she sported as she watched passersby lazily. “ fuck, dude. just smile, everyone’s happy and you’re being a grumpy dick in public. ” she muttered the comment under her breath, tilting her head back to watch the wispy clouds float by. she sighed lowly, “ alright, well, depression one, ainsley zero, i guess. ” she lowered her head and flushed deeply as she recognized she’d blurted her comment out more than loud enough for anyone to hear. “ well, shit. ”
Arabella had been so busy this month that she completely forgot about pride. It used to be something that she enjoyed so much, the one event in the year where she could go all-out and celebrate her sexuality. But between work and the breakup between her and her ex girlfriend, she wasn’t able to fully enjoy herself. She noticed that the woman next to her was talking to herself, and she couldn’t help but catch a few of the words. “It’s okay, just because it’s pride month doesn’t mean you have to be all sunshine and rainbows all day,” she gave her a reassuring smile. “Besides, I like to think that I can celebrate pride year-round, not just when the world tells me to,” she added with a shrug. “But... is everything okay?” It was a dumb thing to ask. Arabella was prone to wanting to help everyone but not knowing how.
