Today is the international men's day, and fuck you, I'm making a post about it.
Everyone knows that being female is a lot harder than being male in today's world, and that feminism is needed in order to make an equal world. That's what the international women's day is for.
The international men's day, on the other hand, is not about that but for men. Today, we let everyone know that no matter who you are, your problems matter. It doesn't matter if you're a black trans woman or a white cis male, if you have problems with your mental health, you have the right to feel bad and seek help. Privelege doesn't mean shit if you're depressed. There are problems with being male, and I myself had a big fucking dip in my life the past year because of it. I'm not here to seek sympathy, but rather to hopefully have someone see it and consider helping themselves before it's too late, and also to raise awareness.
Men are not allowed to show weakness, they're not allowed to act feminine, they're not allowed to show emotions, and they certainly are not allowed to be gay.
This means that when you're not feeling well, you don't tell anyone. You pretend that you're fine, because that's what society tells you to do, and this just makes the problems bigger and bigger until you can't take it anymore.
So please, if you're not feeling well, talk to someone about it. I've really only been able to talk about problems to females, because those are the only ones I feel will actually understand because of the macho culture, and that's not okay. If someone opens up to you, no matter who you are, please try to help them, never act like crying or being sad is a sign of weakness, and show your friends that you're there for them even if they don't seem unwell.
And I know that it's hard to be female and LGBTQ, but if a woman comes out, they get way less of a reaction than when a man does. It's always okay to be you. Gay, trans, straight, black, white whatever. A homosexual male is harassed on a whole different level than a homosexual female. We have managed to make lesbians more accepted in society, and that's awesome, but it's time to start doing the same thing for gay men.
So in summary, stop ridiculing this day. It's not a day to feel bad for men because they have it worse than women, it's a day to actually raise awareness to the problems that do exist. 75% of suicides are by men, and there is a reason for this. I'm not some fucking "meninist" who's here to say that we have it worse than women. I just want to raise awareness to all the problems that actually do exist in our society, and if we don't start talking about this, the suicides will just keep piling up.
