J² Story Request (AU)
Just putting this out there. Maybe someone wants to write this: Premise: Jared arrives to work on a design commission — restoring antique painted tiles in the hotel. He's solitary by nature, there to disappear into his work and escape some quiet disappointment he doesn’t talk about. His room is modest, sun-drenched, and unbearably hot.
Next door, Jensen (regular guy or actor) is staying under a false name to escape something (nothing life threatening). He’s bitter, raw, and hiding.
Their first interaction isn’t face to face — it’s through the wall, late at night, when Jared accidentally plays an old song on his phone, too loud. Jensen knocks. Jared apologizes through the plaster.
But then Jensen speaks again. A dry joke. Jared replies. And suddenly, there’s something. A thread pulled tight between their rooms. The nights could play out like this:
night: they notice the walls are thin but don't say anything
night: music is too loud, one of them knocks, the other apologies
night: Jared plays something softer: under the bridge or some other 90s song. Jensen recognizes it and asks Jared to turn up the volume, they start to talk a little, reminisce what the song means to them
night: either one is out, no talk
night: Jared hears Jensen singing quietly and compliments him, they start talking and don't stop until dawn
night: they talk again until dawn
night: will they / won't they open the door and meet face-to-face?
