Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Samira Mohan The Pitt 1.02 "8:00 A.M."
okay let me explain why the showrunners using the 'realism' excuse is insufficient to justify writing off women of colour
while they are good at depicting the realism of medicine and residency, they write the characters and they decide in what year of their education they are. which means they get to choose in what stage these people are in, how long they could stay. let's talk about 4th year residents. there are two options, either leave or stay. they conveniently are letting a white man stay while two woc senior residents are written to leave, one of them even in the middle of her 4th year. they have been building an arc that can continue for langdon, while building one that can't for samira.
same with medical students. you can get into residency, or not. whitaker got in no problem even though he wants to do rural medicine; javadi has a will she/won't she arc, while we already know joy won't come back. nothing on ogilvie. these are deliberate choices to write characters in a way where they can easily be dissapeared after residency or med school; they chose to not let the woc stay/let the audience know that they might not. it's not realism to only let the white(men) stay, that's racism and misogyny. they write these characters to have problems/dilemma's/different interests so that they won't come back.
it's an easy way out to say that this is realism. because people do leave after residency or med school. but in the pitt? it's clear who gets the priority. they shouldn't be able to hide behind this excuse because it's not reality. they write this show. they decide who comes and goes
Also can we talk about THE Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi in this episode???? Saved a kid’s life doing a procedure she had never done in person (perfectly executed while also teaching it when even Robby was obviously too intimidated to try it) and refusing to take Garcia’s shit about “butchering” the cut because she knows she did that!!! And then also not scared to professionally, privately, and firmly call Robby out about his behavior with Samira??? Even while he was acting like a bit of a child about it?? Oh I love her BAD

becca king who has an active sex life and a boyfriend and wants to be independent and not infantilized and known first and foremost as 'becca' and not 'mel's sister'...............mel king who has structured her entire life around becca's needs and care and being 'becca's sister', even moving to pittsburgh specifically because becca got into an independent living center there, now not knowing what to do or who she is if becca is keeping secrets from her and no longer needs her..............pitt writers you are cooking with gas
Everyone thinks you're just an addict who went to rehab, and you've convinced everyone here that you've changed and you're owning up to your mistakes, and they welcome you back with open arms because you're still the golden boy, and I think it's bullshit.

Holding a human heart in your hands while looking your mom dead in the eye. Filming ICE & running off to post on your tiktok with thousands of followers so people see them arresting a fucking ER nurse. Comforting a family through the death of a loved one. fuck yeah javadi belongs in the ER
I’ve never seen a single episode of the pitt but I do think that kind autistic woman should fuck the twitchy drug guy who has the eyes of an abandoned shelter dog
